ive heard of couples who decide to do away with each other's last names, and take on a totally different one altogether. hmm imagine what the parents must think lol

One of my aunts did that with her husband.
My very very steeped in tradition old-school Dutch grandparents were not pleased. At all.

I'm just happy my grandmother convinced my granddad to take her last name, and she of course kept hers. The kids got her last name too. Otherwise I'd end up with a pretty stupid last name.

In my field of work I have to keep my last name but only on the professional basis. I will change my name on sin card and such.

again, the girl can choose what she wants to do.
she can keep her last name the same for her kids sakes but most women go back.

some ppl keep it (to maintain the same family name to keep it unified) whereas some ppl go back or get remarried and take a new one
