Good point. Did you take a look at the thread in the link that I posted a few posts up? There's some interesting insight into that particular person's perspective on the matter in that thread.

For me knowing that my name is on that sleeve because I made that track actually means something. Its part of me, my creativity, out there.

To have something tanagble out there, being promoted for me and knowing that someone else done most or all the work just doesnt agree with me. Its like being an artist and selling a painting, but someone else doing it.

I know this happens in the music industry i.e. song writers for famous artists but even that makes me think WTF. Its all down to the individual, and only that person can understand.

They don't care. They know they wouldn't get booked without the music behind their name.

This is why a lot of people are upset. There are a lot of people out there not getting the recognition that should be theirs. I'm not talking about the producers ghost writing I'm talking about the middle of the road (name recognition wise) dj's who would otherwise be at the top if it weren't for these "cheaters".

All of Armins tracks are made from the Rank 1 guy, Armin himself doesnt do anything except just slap his name on it at the end. Same with Above & Beyond

Above & Beyond is a team of three very talented producers. I'd be very surprised to hear that there's room for a fourth in that unit. A couple of the other names you've mentioned - Ferry Corsten, Paul Van Dyk - have also got solid production reputations, never a hint of a ghost writer.

If you have proof, let's see it. Otherwise it's just an anonymous rumour from some anonymous internet persona. No reason anyone should believe it for a second.

That is bullshit.

The most annoying thing with this discussion is that NONE REALLY KNOWS who is doing what, when and why. Its mostly SPECULATION and RUMORS.

Armin was known for producing and mastering his own tracks all on his own, nowadays he has a lot of help though.. he used to be more famous for his productions than his DJing.

Tiesto is no secret, he has said in several interviews that he doesnt work a lot in studio.

You dont know that this is how things happen, they might hire a friend to write lyrics, help with vocals.. help come up with ideas.. keep in mind that these guys are producer friends, and hang around the studio to each other.
When you are flying a jetplane from gig to gig, you probably wouldnt sit ALONE in the studio either.

You just keep saying the same thing man. It's not as black and white as you put it.

So when you buy an Ipod you don't call it your Ipod?

It's simple, they bought the product and now it's theirs. It's a part of a basic concept called business.

Companies hiring people for their knowledge because they need it themselves is just te same as the quoted example and common practice which nobody worries about, double standards anyone?

I think you guys worry too much. Music is a business. Deal with it.

Everyone who masteres their track is ghost engineering. You didn't do it yourself, yet you took the credit.

Uhh, if I bought an iPod I wouldn't go around lying and telling people I made it or designed it, which is what the fakers who use uncredited producers do...

If you buy a record, you can call it "yours," but you're not going to credit the production to yourself, are you? All the records in a DJ's bag are "his," but they weren't all written by him.

It's awfully silly when people parade around the point "music is a business," as if that's news to anyone. Wow, so insightful of you to correct our naive misconceptions here!
