Didn't you spring the extra $5/mo. for phone insurance? Or did you have an iphone? AWWW SUCKAAAAAAA. Seems like they should have a way of tracking stolen phones...

Huh, well I'll bet you could get a new phone on the cheap if you renew your contract with them... though that would entail still using Metro PCS which is like almost not having a phone anyways.

This raises another interesting point. Is it possible to reason on complex issues and form opinions and conclusions with the absence of language?

What is complex? What is reasonable?

Does language tend to shape our thoughts and logic? Quite a bit, yes. But is an opinion not - more often than not - just a reaction? Even if it draws upon the whole of human knowledge, is it not just a selective approximation of compounded cause-and-effect? I think that language has a habit of telling people just what their opinions are or should be, but it has little to do with the actual, elemental formation of subjectivities. But what if the formation of language were just another sense?

Does a deaf person think in sign language? Instead of words for an inner voice is it hand signals or merely a visual depiction of whatever event they imagine playing out in their head? How would a blind person imagine the same event unfolding?

I think in the absence of language one can form opinions and find reasonable conclusions however the amount of time involved increases dramatically. Just as a caveman with no formal language beyond grunting, yelling or pointing/gesturing can make a decision to work with his peers to find food, seduce his cave lady, or buy auto insurance.

Our capacity to recognize and react to something that is foul smelling, bitter tasting, loud, bright, or really fucking hot!!! exists at birth, but like you said yourself, language is learned and perfected/degraded (depending on your socioeconomic condition apparently). I agree however that language is simply a means to explain an opinion or feeling that is formed completely independent of our capacity to explain it or remember it in words in the first place.
