normally i try to mix around the genres while practicing, it's more fun that way :) for example: try to bang out a one hour set that has trance, tekno, house, breaks, jungle, DnB, and then rips out with a happyhardcore track last.
It's wicked fun, but may not always go over big at a party. It all mixes well enough if you know the different styles, but it may confuse people *lol* The happyhardcore i love to play (although i only play old stuff) but it usually has to be mixed in some kind of an ambient section, or somekind of flanged breezy crossfade action :)
Normally though when i play out, i try to mix some house and trance and tekno, create a mood with music, regardless of what it's labelled as.
