Well I just found out about this festival through a newspaper article about WEMF, actually. From what I've read, it seems pretty interesting.
Have any of you ever been to this festival before? Anyone looking to attend this year?
"Om Summer Solstice Festival - June 20-22, 2003
We are very pleased to announce this year's sound villages:
Auditory environments include:
SUMKIDZ SOUND SYSTEM (OM) - a continual OM project which takes place every year... diverse and unique electronic and non-electronic beats...many visual stimulations...a space to get your groove on!
ALCHEMIST ARENA (OM) - another OM project to entice the mind and move the spirit ... a blend of performance art, spoken word, theatre, and non-electronic sounds ...
ELECTRO ORGANIC SOUND SYSTEM (Toronto) - deep organic beats in the woods ... a blend of electronic sounds including techno, electo, breaks and more!
GNOMES (Toronto) and BALANCE PRODUCTIONS (BC) -
Drum and Bass in many forms ... two groups uniting east and west!
BLACKLIGHT ACTIVISTS (Toronto) -
Full-on psychedelic trance for the masses!
FIELD OF DRONES - (dub beautiful / San Fran)
experimental ... ambient ... soundscape
This is an invitation for all dreamers, dancers, musicians, artists, activists, educators and healers to converge and celebrate their shared passions. I went two summers ago.
Great vibe, good people, fun times & the music was ok. It was a lot of drum and bass. The "Trance" tent played a lot of hard techno. Banco De Gaia headlined. I'm going again this summer. |

Yeah, that's the impression that I got from looking around their site. It doesn't look like a huge-scale event, which can be just fine. :) |

Think massive hippies enjoying the collective vibe. Its very free and open, no negativity allowed and sharing is a must. People bring food to the "kind kitchen" and who ever feels like cooking, whips up the food and you can go get whenever you want. Great idea that works great when the right people are participating.
Om - very different. but a great experience. |

Me & HanSolo were worried about all the hippies at first. But it turns out Hippies don't eat people. |

| No they dont eat people, just an urban myth. But man I have never such hairy armpits in my life and thats just when sooper decided to take his shirt off in the middle of the hippy field. Scary stuff. |

| The Hippy Field was always good fun - everybody with their shirt's off, the Great North Nipple Marathon was swell. |
