I havent heard a set from Oakenfold in almost a year or so but I remember when he used to spin breakbeat and everyone hated it.
Now I realise he was way before his time.
Breakbeat is the (next) big thing (atm) in electronica music...and after breakbeat drumm&bass will see the daylight to the progressive scene.
I wouldnt be surprised if gu 030 (if they don't go bankrupt :))will be a drum&bass one...
What u think about breakbeat in general, is it growing on you?
Are u into it? Do u feel we progress?
breakbeat is very close to drum&bass...I'm not into drum&bass much but I can imagine I will be in a couple of years.... |

I like both breakbeat and drum'n'bass, have liked them for years. In breakbeat i like many artists, Starecase, Burufunk, Hybrid of course,... In drum'n'bass i prefer the smooth, melodic jazzy style even like what's on LTJ Bukem's Progression Sessions & Logical Progression CDs. Breakbeat tunes are a great alternative to the "standard 4/4" tunes.
I agree with u and think breakbeat or even drum'n'bass might be coming stronger in the next few years. I surely hope so! ;) |

| drum and bass will never be as big has prog or trance or breaks for that matter.....could you see people dancing that hard for that long of a period of time???? I dont think sooo. But as with every genre there will be breakthrough artist like Kosheen and the likes. But again ill say it will never get as big....BTW im a huge LTJ bukem fan but i also like some of ak1200's realy dirty sets..... |

Breakbeat and drum&bass are very similar to eachother.
When the need is there for a new sound in the progressive scene drumm&bass can be introduced by dj's like digger's, burridge, phil K....Lavelle... Oakenfold (trendsetter) perhaps...
Who would have said gu023 will become a breakbeat masterpiece...?
If u look at the progression in music throughout the gu series...
De Vit with the more hardhouse (can I say rave) Oakenfold wit his trance masterpieces....progressive trance (sasha san frans)....more progressive (athens...hong kong...) darker prog (los angeles)....breakbeat! (023 lavelle)........what's next :conf:

breakbeat owns...ive been spinning it for over 3 years now....and i cant alot more attention/crowd spinnin that then local trance/house djs get....its huge in the southern usa, every single club around here plays it...california is a gettin a bigger scene too, the sky is the limit, breakbeat owns! trance blows!

pfft, youve never seen a good DnB set have you?
we jammed for oh, 14 hours of hardstep @ Ultra 5(in wicked)
even the mainstage had down times(between Live PA/the streets etc)
Drum and Bass is about to get a HUGE N.American hit. not the downtempo Jazzy stuff, HARD DIRTY ING JUMP UP!

I think if D&B somehow found its way into the mainstream of America it would do well. Most of today's hip-hop heads like that deep heavy bass of the songs so D&B would be a good next step for them.
I like D&B and I've been listening to it more just recently. I've finally found an artist that I like too: Kemal. |

yeah i prefer the jazzy stuff.....anything on GLR or one of the sub labels ;) LTJ produces some top notch tunes... |

LTJ Bukem = Best music to smoke weed to IMO
I listen to drum & Bass occcasionally and remember the old D & B raves in the UK. loads of good djs and acts about still a lot from the old days. Check out if you can. DJ SS, Kenny Ken, DJ Marky, Fabio & Grooverider, Mickey Finn, Nicky Blackmarket, Bryan Gee, Dillinja, DJ Zinc, Ray Keith, Bad Company, Roni Size and the Bristol lot DJ Krust, DJ Die, MC Dynamite. Goldie (don't really dj much anymore), Digital, and Optical. There is ing loads.
Usually at the big festivals in the UK say someone comes on in the trance arenas who I don't like someone say like Tall Paul or Judge Jules, I usually go to the Drum & Bass tent and theres always quite a wicked atmosphere in the drum & bass arenas. |

both breaks n dnb rock hard... even sum o that oldschool jungle flava still owns..
best part of drum n bass is how varied it is truly. you get this dark in-your-face hard dnb, then this funky loungey ltj bukem style, even trancier stuff ala John B etc.
as for my fav artists checkk the sig :p |

| Breaks are cool and all, but I disagree about it being the next big thing. I've hardly heard any successful breakbeat tracks so far this year. I myself think that this year is the return of the uplifting sound. But during the summer, who knows, breaks could spring up and take over ;) |
