I'm a lefty too....Mike Weir is such a class act!!
I met him almost 6 years ago at River Road Golf Club in London, Ontario. He's friends with the club pro there and agreed to do a two hour instruction for junior members (which I was at the time). He spent about 5 minutes with me and showed me a better grip and how to properly align my back foot in order to hit a draw like he does. Really nice guy, but there was like 80 junior members out there all wanting his attention. Now that he's the Masters Champ, his popularity will only increase here.
We love our athletes here and it's good to see Mikey stealing some of Tiger's thunder. I think he could become Tiger's nemesis on the TOUR after this.....kinda like Gary Player to Palmer and Watson to Nicklaus. We all know Woods is the best, but I think Weirsy can give Tiger a run for his money and give the fans some good golf...not boring 18 shot leads all the time. |
