I'm torn because his mixing hasn't been all that great lately either. In addition, there is definately a lack of good trance tunes out there nowadays. Perhaps I'll check him out for sentimental purposes.

Area 2 and Nations were two venues that short-changed Tiesto bigtime. I understand lots of the TA's on this forum don't respect Tiesto because of his latest works, but until you've seen him at Glow for yourself don't base your judgments on what other people say.

Area 2 sucked because they put on all the big name DJs on Sunday in the steaming, hot afternoon. Since when do you have a Trance party at 4pm in the day? You also have to take into consideration Tieso's set was squeezed in between DnB and House not the very best of combinations! Despite all this, he was the only DJ besides Carl Cox that actually interacted with the crowd. None of the others, not even the beloved John Digweed, were nearly as energetic. You'd have more fun watching paint dry on a wall.

As for Nations, that was an accident waiting to happen. Nations is by no means a Trance club! Even when Buzz used to run that place, Trance was not embraced as the genre of choice. When PvD came to spin there on Nov. 24, 2001, the promoters had the nerve to actually send chicks telling him to stop playing Trance. Ok, what gives? Did you expect Tiesto to have any more fun at that place? No! Even though I wasn't there, I know for a fact the vibe sucked cause of all the goth and skinheads that came to ruin the party (not to mention that event was highly over-priced anyway).

Paul was at the DC Armory that night. Huge venue.

Sorry. I must have gotten my dates mixed up. PvD did play at Nations though, and according to the people I talked to he had a pretty bad time. If you know otherwise, then please enlighten us.

I think that PvD was there in November of 2000. I've heard conflicting reports.

Not like it matters at this point. Buzz can't afford him anymore.

no offense Amit, but their headliners combined didnt charge nearly as much as PvD does. I'm sure they could afford a one-off with PvD or Tiesto, but eventually it would kill them. A lot of the djs they got were mad cheap, even cheaper than you dj Turban-Train :p

Look Amit, ever since Buzz got shut down in DC they have not had as a big a budget as they once did. PvD charges more than 50k per performance. Do you honestly think that 1500 people paying 20-30 bucks a head could cover that?

Buzzlife had some serious pull at HFStival last summer. Oakey spinning in RFK stadium one night, Deep Dish, Dave Ralph, Morel in the tent.

As far as ticket sales go, I agree that Trust couldn't hold a crowd large enough to book PvD. There are other venues though.
