They cant shut it down. There's only once central server and that's used for their public hub list and website. Get rid of that and there's no central resource for them to shut down.
Try it.
DC++ is far better anyhow, like to see them shut down an open source project YAAA RIIIIGHT. |

In order for them to have any legal grounds to prosecute Direct Connect they would would have to attack the hub servers, rather than the software makers.
THe software itself does nothing without the servers, and quite frankly, RIAA can't get to the thousands of servers set up. Long live the hub!! |

| I would imagine that for every hub shut down by the RIAA several more would be established...it's a losing battle. Additionally, RIAA is an intensely acronym. |
