I wrote a new track called "Cassiopeia":
Kompulsor - Cassiopeia.mp3

Please evaluate.

NEW: See below for the source samples, if you want to remix.

Right now it's 6:08 (can be made longer if needed), a bit on the hard side.

thanks

oooh, that some delicious tunnel trance force style action there!

It's not really my thing, but I can appreciate that as a pretty decent track!

Although, some reverb is needed in places, especially the vocal..
Perhaps some delay also.

I think also, some work on that main lead synth maybe, it sounds a bit flat.

The track has a nice solid feel to it. Good stuff :)

not really my style, but it seems like a fairly good track. it's rather empty indeed, but it has potential..

very party style this track! Casssiopeia goes along the rithms of party style! Nice Work!

thanks for the responses so far, guys

The vocal sample wasn't top-quality to begin with (to put it mildly), I did my best with it -- applied some reverb, compression, flanger fx, etc. but it still sounds pretty amateurish..

The main problem I see with the track is that lead-synth sample. It does have reverb, but I think it's slightly off-key, and also when I was changing its pitch to form the melody, the top notes came out way too short -- that's what happens when you try to "warp" a single .WAV sample. If anyone has suggestions on the lead-synth let me know...

And indeed, I've always had this 'empty' thing about my tracks ever since I started producing, filling them up is something I have to work on, but it's not easy... I thought the string pads in the background would do the trick ('cause they make a track "fuller"), but even that didn't help much...

BTW, If someone who likes hardstyle/commercial-style trance (e.g. Pulsedriver, Axel Konrad, Ole van Dansk) would like to collaborate or remix this, I'd be more than happy to provide all the files...

DJ Fin
email me at [email protected] to let me know how to acquire the files from you for remixing and reworking

I'll be happy to work on it myself and to offer it to other DJs I know in Chicago, IL, USA

There's a number of ways to give your track depth.

Give each synth its own spectral space, or atleast try to group the synths that sound similar in sound. To accomplish this, you'll have to do it either via stereo enhancers, chorus, flangers or reverb.

All right guys, have fun :)
Source samples for Kompulsor - Cassiopeia
NOTE: Everything at 140 BPM!

VOCALS

  • Moaning girl: girlmoan.wav
  • "Cassiopeia": voc_cass.wav (this sample is plain and low-quality, so some enhancers/filters need to be applied)

BASS: bass.wav (this is a C5-note)

SAWTOOTH BASS SYNTH

"EXCITER" SYNTH

LEAD SYNTH

USEFUL DRUMS

The rest you'll probably get yourself (incl. strings, other drums..) in a better version than me. :p
But of course, if you need anything else - let me know!

Have fun, play around, add stuff and fx -- in short, enjoy!:)
And let me know:)!

sounds nice, but a little more variety would have been nice..

i'd like to make a remix, but i would need the midis of the mellows. got 'em? would be nice =)

you can download my remixes on www.djnge.de ... i can also give you the links for the "original" songs, if you like to, so that you can see what i made of the original song.

sure, but I don't know how to export to MIDI in FruityLoops
when I select a pattern and do Save As -> MIDI, it outputs a zero-K (empty) MIDI file :(

ah, you did that with fruity loops? not bad :)

hmm, not good... are the waves at least only the notes (like in a midi)? if so, i could perhaps convert them somehow...

btw. who's that nice lady in your avatar? =)
