Personally I'm agnostic. From my experience it seems most people who call themselves aethiest are truly agnostic but dont know what it means.
From Dictionary.com
Agnostic:
A. One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God.
B. One who is skeptical about the existence of God but does not profess true atheism.
Atheist
A. Disbelief in or denial of the existence of God or gods.
B. The doctrine that there is no God or gods. |

u can't believe in something you can't see and touch... thats my motto... i have faith.. in ppl.. but to tell me there is something out there.. hmm im very much in the NO spectrum on that one, sorry...
Besides.. look how many bad things there are in religion... pedo's and stuff, abuse by nun's, all this other crap that no one hears about.... tsk tsk tsk.. is that what is taught in religion? i think not... its all crazy i tell yah! |

wow, well, then in that case you might as well stop believing in science. you can't touch a quantum or a quark, man. and quantum physics sure as hell don't make sense.
in any case, the stuff you mentioned above are faults of *people*. don't make the dumb-assed mistake that's made by so many out there -
religion is man-made. *god*, whatever name you choose to call him, in whatever possibility of his existence, is not.
don't confuse the two. |

im an atheist (along with half of australia).. religions are for people with weak minds that cant accept that we are completely useless and whose lives have no value what so ever in the scheme of things. a very sad amd depressing concept for most (even for atheists) but enlightening for a lucky few (not saying im one).
(just to stir some up)

heh, sure. i'm saying that if there's a god out there, then he is the one that created us. purely metaphysically speaking, naturally.
religion is a human-made system of worship of a divinity. religion is seldom different whether it's worshipping a deity, or a football (soccer, for the north americans) team. one is simply more formal than the other.
this leads to human vices encroaching on whatever system of morals is devised by humans themselves for the religion. if a sacred text dictates that a certain act is wrong, then it doesn't mean that everyone will follow it. we created a system of law for our society which basically governs the rights and wrongs in every day situations. there are lawmakers and politicians that create these laws. obviously the people that create these laws are imperfect, and more often than not, break them. i don't think anyone actually thinks that any figure of authority follows perfectly the laws that they enforce or uphold or create or verify.
and thus it's the same thing in religion. just because a priest represents a certain religion, doesn't mean that he is all of a sudden perfect in every way. he is still human, with human faults and inner tribulations. in less traditional religions (nowadays it seems everyone and their mother has their own branch of christianity) it's very easy to become a pastor or a priest or a minister.
so obviously it's silly to assume that just because someone holds a certain position of authority in a sect (or a government, for that matter), that they are the be-alls end-alls of the entity. it doesn't work that way, which is why it's laughable to hear people denounce religion, or founding principles of a society, because some priest decides to play hide the candy bar with some kid's ass. following that logic, every time we hear of a politician laundering money or pursuing a genocidal course of action (IRAQ ANYONE? OOH OOH! WHO'S YOUR BAGHDADDY?!) for their own means, we should all renounce democracy and law because obviously if the representatives of these schools of thought are imperfect. but we don't do that, do we?
