SARS : Canada and U.S.

As a Canadian I just want to say that our government should be ashamed of themselves.
While the U.S. desperately sought our support in the Gulf, Jean Chretien snubbed them in their time of need by showing the world he can make his own decisions.
Although the U.S. has every reason to ignore us with the SARS issue, they fulfill their duty as our neighbour and best ally and disagree with the world health organization by publiclly saying
"There is no suggestion that a traveller going to Toronto is inadvertently coming into contact with a SARS patient," CDC director Dr. Julie Gerberding told a news conference Thursday.
Thank you U.S...... and to our liberal party.

The U.S's "time of need" to bombard a defenseless nation is different from a virus that affects peoples health. The world should be more cautious about this virus despite which nation carries it.

| how can we treat the 2 situations to be the same? war in iraq was based on politics... this is a public health issue. politics and personal viewpoints have no place here... the CDC is simply stating their recommendations as medical professionals... |

Chretien did not want to join the US coalition since Canada's stance has traditionally been to abide by the United Nation's decisions whether they be good or bad.
my rant: Laws, courts, security councils, call them what you may are meant to establish order in our world and society, but yes, sometimes courts do end up letting criminals or rogue nations and the like back onto the streets but this doesn't mean that we should simply disregard it (laws, etc.) when it doesn't meet our best interests.

it's a problem that the US will soon have to face up to as well. By helping Canada, it is only in their best interests..
Canada would have done the same had the outbreak started in the US instead of Toronto. I don't think it's appropriate to draw any sort of correlation between SARS and the Iraq War. |

exactly! There are canadians coming in and out of the US everyday , its so easy to spread something like SARS, I would think its only out of STUPIDITY that the US wouldnt give a rats ass about the condition here.
But the US isnt being stupid, they are providing research into gettiong rid of this thing. I dont know what that useless blabber that TrueToTheCrew called a question was |
