Is anyone else Interested in Hypnotherapy?
I find it fascinating how you can completly alter someone's mind and perceptions in the way prefesional hypnotherapists do. I was watching some Paul McKenna show the other day, where he made some woman think she was a duck just by talking to her. :eyes: :eyes: ..quite amusing to watch :D
I only know one technique of hypnotherapy myself..
You ask someone to close there eyes and imagine they are walking down a dark alley. suddenly a dark figure appears with three metal steaks, he stabs each of the steaks into their back (punch the persons back in three places clockwise) and wraps a rope around the steaks (simulate rope moving clockwise) and then he yanks the rope backwards. If the person is really believing it they should trip backwards :stongue:
Does anyone else know any other hypnotherapy techniques? |

nope, cant say i know of any.. But i heard it takes a weak mind to be hypnotised..
I saw a hypnosis show twice (same guy) and he put on a great show. People jumpin about mad thinkin they're michael jackson / madonna etc.. So i doubt they're fakin it anyways, so i guess it must be real!

| i used to think that only weak minded people could be hypnotized but i now think it has something to do with the trust a person has in the hypotizer and how suggestable they are (weak mind?) |

| my friend used to hav a book about hypnotising people. but he would use it to play tricks on people. for example. he would walk up to people in our school, with hundreds of people around and say he was gonna show them something cool. he would ask them to close there eyes and put there fingertips over each eyelid. then he would say some crap, and then just pause.. then he would gesture for everyone to silently move away, so the poor chap would be stood there in the middle of the hall all by himself with his eyes closed looking like a rite gimp.. :toothless ahh yeaa the good old days :) |

This is from a book my sister bought me for my birthday...(The Action Hero's Handbook, a great book really)
How to better influence someone's behaviour
(takes a bit of time)
Step 1: Gain your subject's trust. Listen, be atttentive, don't be threatening or offensive.
Step 2: Make your subject feel safe. Make him feel comfortable, relaxed. Be friendly.
Step 3: Match your subject's tone, speech patterns and breathing. If he raises his voice, raise yours. If he lowers it, lower yours. Do this subtly, not abruptly.
Step 4: Mirror your subject's behaviour. He crosses his legs, cross yours. Use the same vocabulary he uses. If he shakes his head as he speaks, shake yours. Again, do all this subtly, not aburptly.
Step 5: Attempt to lead your subjects behaviour. Start to lead your subject's behaviour. If all goes well, you will soon see that he should be mirroring your moves, matching your tone, etc. When you are in synch with each other, you can either be confidently insisting ("Yes, I would like to see those documents"), though calm, or you could be passive, like suggesting that he/she "may feel like" showing you those documents (I'm just using the "Show me those documents" as an example). Again, all this has to be subtle. No abrupt moves or anything that could disrupt this. Don't be weird or quirky, because once they realize that they're being too suggestive, it's going to raise their awareness even more and it would be almost impossible to get them to this state again.
Another helpful hint is that people are more suggestive when they're in a heightened emotional state, like when they're excited, angry etc.
This all comes from Spencer (www.sleepnow.com).
I will try this on a chick one day :p |
