| hi, people. im wondering if you are a trance/progressive dj, how fast do you play your music. I usually play 5-7% of pitch! The faster the better...i think. |

| 5-7% is probably a bit fast IMO, and your vocals are going to sound a bit chipmunkey at that speed, unless you use the Tempo feature on your mixer or whatever. But 2-4% max on beats around 139-140 is ok I guess. But faster is good sometimes if you are feeling a bit rushy. |

there are no rules when playing music ... just do whatever feels right *for you* ...
and faster isn't always better ... |

faster sounds better initially to the uneducated.... that's why deep house, and real progressive sets take some understanding for appreciation.
even some oakie sets compared to tiesto or ferry, just check them out. |

in my eyes progressive is good for the subtlety.. u dont get that at +5 or whatever :) prog is meant to be played comparitively slower than ur uplifting stuff, for that grinding working feel to it... i in love it! for example.. timo maas usually plays somewhere round the 130 - 135bpm mark.. where as more uplifting DJ's like scott Bond or Tiesto tend to spin around 140 odd :)
a lot of prog sounds e fast anyway.. so do the right thing, pace it!
peace
p.s. swamper i like the new smilies :) |

It depends
between 136 and 143
It depends in what mood I am, which tracks I play.
If you go faster you'll mix will become more energetic, If you go a little slower your mix sounds more relaxing.

| The highest would be 5 bpm above the regular, 3 below. |

If you want to play an airwave track in a set of 140 bpm you should go higher than +5%.
I play save me a lot at +8% and v-three resistance too, and they still sounds great.

I play all styles of electronic music (except Hardcore) so IM between 132 Bpm and 149 Bpm
When I go 149 it is usually with HH...
But I like Mixing progressive sounds with Techno that usually happens...around 140 bpm , But I never go -% on the pitch..I think If u go slower u up the record totally...
I rather go too fast than too slow.
Does anyone know if there is any dj tool that allows u to expand your pitch control from your technics....I heard sumthing like that exsisted ....does neone know what it is? I would love to get my hands on one of those....Very often I run out of Pitch control cause I like Mixing different extreme style together for example House and techno...but u usually cant cause u dont have enough room on ya pitch control.....
Well I need to go to bed soooooooo

| Faster is not better. Some songs at certain times, I'll pitch it up towards the end of the night when most songs with higher bpm's get played. |
