yea I am currently reading the LOTR trilogy again to get ready for the movie, it better not suck! although I could see them screwing it up quite easily. I love some of Poe's short stories too, but my favorite book prolly is Catch-22

they are supposedly childrens books, and alot of peope think they have a dumbass kiddie name, and i kinda of agree, but doods, that is some quality writing, u should try it if u ever get over ur contempt!

The last book I read was called "We wish to inform you that tomorrow we will be killed with our families," it's by phillip gourevitch and it's about the genocide that happened in 1994 in rwanda, if you read this book you'll realize how ed up the world is and how useless the UN is
Miss Proximus
damn..I must've missed it too before I guess...

Well, I'm a REALLY huge fan of Stehen King and Clive Barker...just love their stories!!

What I also like is the books from a Swedish couple: Sjöwall & Wahlöo (is that correct fatboy??? haha)..it's policenovels..very thrilling...

And ofcourse Astrid Lindgren with her fabulous children's books..fantasy...:)
Palivar

palivar how bout you quit bring back these old threads with replies like "hello" or "books?". thats ing ignorant. its an easy way to get you thrown into the TA jail. your posts are meaningless, and often with one word responses. get a life, and stop being annoying.

J.R.R. Tolkien. The best. I love fantasy and his books were like a gift from heaven.
I also wanted to read the dragonlance books, but they were like 14 or more, and some are hard to get.

ta_wilson, i read the first book of Harry Potter, i was so addicted to it that i readed it in 8 hours straight without stopping.

Anything by Stephen King (very under-rated and mis-understood) and 1984 by George Orwell (scared me, but not for the reason I expected).

Oh and I liked The Beach by Alex Garland so much I went to Thailand when I finished it, hehe.

Everyone has to read everything by Jeff Noon....except maybe Automated Alice. The man is a god. He writes about drug/rave culture. He really into music and mathematics too. If you are in the US you may have trouble finding some of his books. In europe it should be easy though.

Metabeing, can you recommend any in particular? I might pop on Amazon.

Ill give you an overview of them in my order of most to least favorite...i love them all though.

Nymphomation - About a group of smart kids that try to break a game like the lotto....alot of mathematics and computer stuff. Light on the drugs and music. If you dont like things like chaos mathematics or math in general you may not like it. Takes place before Vurt.

Vurt - About a new drug called vurt...like a virtual reality trip only without electronics. Its almost like a game, there are porno ones, mild ones death ones, forbidden ones. Heavy on the drugs, a really nice love story in there too. This is an incredible book.

Needle In the Groove - A story about a new band that discovers a way to take music as a drug. Heavy on the drugs and music.

Pixle Juice - A bunch of short stories ranging from kinda weird to insanely weird...get this book. Its amazing.

Pollen - About flower pollen taken over the world..kind of. Its really had to explain. BUt heavy on underground music and an amalgation of all species.

Automated Alice - a modernized version of Through the looking glass.

A word of advice if you read these read them in this order...

Vurt
Pollen
Nymphomation
Automated Alice

Pixle juice and Needle in the Grove can be read anywhere I suggest Pixel Juice before the others because it will give you a taste of his writings. THe for listed separately are stand alone books and are in no way a series, but the are element that are tied through all 4 of them and are to be revealed in the above order because thats the way they were written. Trust me its worth reading them in that order some parts will take your breath away when you get to certain cross overs.

I truley recommend these to the entire group they are little know books with a huge underground following. Im positive that most will like them.
