It is clear that decriminalizing pot possesion will not only move us forward but it will also decrease drug use. Better eductaion is needed to curb drug use, NOT restrictions. Take Europe as an example, they are leagues ahead of us when it comes to drug policies.

Another interesting effect of drug legalization is the amount of income it reduces from organized crime. Think of what would happen to organizations like hell's angels, street gangs or mafia organizations in the United States.

we do need laws to keep us in check. I dont want kids drinking & smoking, i think you have to know the out come of these choices
and when your 13 smoking is "cool" when your 21 you also understand how unhealthy of a choice it is. But of course when you hit 19 or so I fully agree if you still want to smoke feel free, just take it out side so I dont die with ya.
p.s smoke hydro not players :thepirate

we need laws indeed...wanna hear something??

number of smokers in canada ive noticed is at least 40% if not more

number of smokers back from where i came in the middle east is only about 20% or less

back there i was the only one in my whole group who smoked...and there is no law to provide id and be of legal age to buy cigarettes...same with alcohol

u say cigarettes are to be smoked and bought by adults ???hmm kid says "i want to be an adult..i want to rebel..i dont care wat the law says..it will be cool if i smoke" goes and starts smoking, befor eu know it, he/she is a chainsmoker

back in the UAE, anyone could by cigarettes, yet if u were to someone a cigarette, theyd say, no thanks...

basic psychology....the more u pull something away from someone, the more they want it..

try this out with a baby who is too innocent to refrain
loconet
What it will do to young kids..

Everyone, everywhere has freedom of thought, but without freedom to act upon your thought, it is worthless.

There is no clinical evidence whatsoever that one "goes dumber." There were studies conducted with heavy pot smokers (and by "heavy" it is meant those who smoke 3-4 joints per day, every single day, for at least a year). Those pot smokers exhibited a slight deficiency in certain mental tests, most likely reflex and memory tests. However, when they laid off the weed, they returned to normal levels within a certain timeframe. I don't know if it was weeks or months, but it happened.

FACT: marijuana is very safe, unless you figure to smoke several sessions every day, which is quite rare and let me tell you, pretty hard to do (i.e. you'd get sick of the stuff after a while). There has never been a death from overdose due to marijuana (if i am wrong please correct me). Contrast this with lung cancer and the myriad ways of dying from smoking cigarettes. And let's not get into alcohol shall we? :)

Basically what I want to emphasize is that a lot of the drug stereotypes, if not most, within our society are due to ignorance. A lot of this ignorance comes from government anti-drug propaganda.

I don't want to say drugs are "good" but I also do not want to say drugs are "bad" because they are NEITHER. It is your choice to take drugs. It is your choice to allow your life to be ruined by the heavy ones. It doesn't mean that they were "bad" - it just means that you were stupid. If you are responsible in your drug use and are intelligent about the possible side effects then anyone saying you are "bad" is just ignorant.

Very good point! This is the only "moral" sticky-issue with drugs, I would say. In this sense, drugs are "bad" because they support organized crime.

But then again, most other things carry negative consequences. Driving your car wastes a lot of gas that pollutes the atmosphere. Maybe that diamond you bought for your fiancee or wife or whoever last week came from Africa and has a hefty blood price behind it. That juicy steak you had last night was the end result of a helpless animal getting slaughtered and chopped up into many pieces. Etc.

So it depends on what you want to think is good or bad. But it is your choice. No one should be able to say what is "good" for you or "bad" for you, arbitrarily.

Way to counter a generalization with a generalization.

Remember, open expressions of Christianity are forbidden in Saudi.

All generalizations are false.
