there are many cultural and societal influences that may or may not force one to smoke. like the "rebel" image as LKD said. the fact that you "smoked" popeye cigarettes and yet never touched the real thing does not show anything. popeye candies are not addictive to your body! :)

no harm taken...but i think your perspective is skewed. the people in canada are open minded, sure, but not as open minded as you might think. why do people stiffen up when a black person dressed up as a thug walks by? because there is the perception that people dressed up as thugs are somehow all involved in criminal activity. an image that is even being propagated by MTV, CNN, and other 'venerable' western institutions!! (dunno about MTV & venerable, tho ;) )
plus, think about this: perhaps the open-mindedness of the general canadian public is due to the very fact that it is comprised of people from all over the world? i think that if canada was composed of only one nationality (say whites) then it would be very close-minded. just look at the conservative white types in the US. (and they even run the government!) highly dangerous.

Yes of course the media over hypes every thing but what do you take me as some sort of sucker who believes everthingthing that i am told?
come on man, im basing my factson my friend who IS an arab, and stuff that I have been taught by people not influenced by the media. And the people ARE very into religion much more so than the people of north america. so take it easy big guy, and dont make up opinons about me. cant wait to hear back from ya!:tongue3 |

and everyhitng here doesnt have to be a debate on this forum....as for ur friend who IS arab, i have several friends here who are arab too and i LIVED there myself....if its such a restricted place, tell me why there are so many Canadians and Americans living there as we speak and will do anything just to stay there???
as for the religion part, yes unlike people over here who say they are christian yet dont even go to church etc, people over there pay their obligations at churches and mosques no matter what...
however religion doenst play a big part in things such as smoking. actually it has NO part... just understand my theory of persistence based on denial stated way back...
about trying the theory with a an innocent baby, do it...
show the kid a toy..the kid will want to play with it, u keep takingit further and further away, the kid comes after it and eventually throws a tantrum if it doesnt get it...
if u leave another toy in front of the kid, the kid may not even look at it.... |

i dont know where to begin with this one.
my first point was just to prove to "buddy" that cigarette companys still advertise, and I think they should be able to, tobbaco is leagl.
and the thugs part?
dead on, but its not the black thugs that piss me of its the white guys. they try and prove they are "hard" and want so bad to live the thug life beacsue mommy and daddy where to nice to them growing up and now they got to rebel. And your exacty right we are all immigrants to this great land and thats what makes us so n open minded. I got friedns from all over the world with so many differnt beliefs and crazy ideas, and I love it, i consider myself some what cultured because of this. I mean what other country in the world (besides the usa) is such a melting pot? ok i got to get back to work, id love to write more, i will return. I'll leave you with this......."I have no hate for no one unless you me over, and I still will not hate a people as a whole because of this, just that 'n person"
