Missy Elliots early work is awful, yet the new stuff is good, it's down to production, the stuff she's done is catchy as hell, and has staying power, don't know about the US, but get your freak on is still played here....
I've never been a fan of warren g myself, regulate was cool, but was more Nate Doggs influence on the track was cool, always seemed to me he made it big because of who his friends were, but could be wrong...
and fair enough about eminem :stongue: |
haha come to think of it you're right...no way should warren g be that high, especially ice cube being that low |

Not being arsed to read the whole thread, I only saw those saying how Missy Elliot is a horrible artist.
If you had taken to time to listen to any of her albums at length, you would realize that her productions and songs are very different and don't just focus on $$ and bitches and Cristal, etc ... Granted she is not the most talented rap/hip-hop artist out there (esp. since much of her production work is done by Timbaland), she is without a doubt the most influential female in the business. She took the initiative to lose 100+ lbs and improve her self image and took her music to the next level as well. I obviously wouldn't rate her above Tupac, Notorious BIG, The Roots, etc ... but I would rate her as the best female artist in the genre to date. |

I personally like Missy. She is an inovator in a ton of different other ways. There is no other artist out there with her style. Therefor thats why I have respect for her.

hm the hate over rap/hiphop music continues.
not every song by an artist is "good". It's true for every genre including trance.
The thing I don't understand is why it's "unacceptable" that some people call all trance "repetitive" and other negative comments but it's acceptable to stereotype all hiphop/rap music as "talking about sex/violence/drugs" or "hos, pimps, etc". |
