I liked almost all of the songs he played but they were in no order and no build up at all. HE played as the rush comes way to early in the set it didnt belong after a hard song. His mixing was awsome at times and HORRIBLE at others. ONe song was like going then boom fast fade out and next song. I talked to mike bindra about this set and he agreed with me tietso was preocuppyed. He couldnt give me details but only said somthing happened to him. He left early at 6 pm and didnt even say bye to us or an encore. This was not a good set from him inmy opinion.
ON the other hand I am going to annonce somthing big hehe |
wow.... i think john is turning into a proghead. :D |

I was standing like 15 feet away from him the whole time, and yes as he got to the end of his set, the volume mixing was a lil off, hard beats just came out of nowhere. The set was fantastic in my opinion though. A little too crowded but I got used to it after a while.
Some stuff he dropped:
Mind One ft. Rena - Star for me(Dub) OMG!!!!
Started off with Cristalle(Katana's remix)
I'm pretty sure he played Push - Journey of Life
And of course how can i forget......William Orbit - Barber's Adagio for STrings(Tiesto Remix) Can't wait till this comes out!!!! |

I must have been at a different Roxy last night, and heard a different Tiesto last nite, because the one I saw sucked. I knew it was going to be bad, because when he dropped his 1st track, Fear(Unkle Rmx), you could barelu hear it. Tiesto had no idea how to work the frequencies on the mixer. At one point during his 1st track, I thought he was going to quit. There was no volume, and once he foudn the lows, he never really did find the highs. He got some help from someone, but by that time, he decided to drop some Katana.
Overall... his track selection was suspect. Not much build up or flow, and on several occasions he actually just moved the cross fader over to the next track. Again... the music wasn't even at full volume, and Noel Sanger didn't seem to have this problem. Another problem I had with the set, was it lacked energy. Alot of filler type tracks, and during these songs, the crowd looked bored. Maybe I am spoiled, because last time I saw Tiesto, he came on after Oakenfold @Ultra 5, and with 20,000 people listening, he didn't disappoint. I was hoping for more Belgian trancers, and some nice tech, but my expectations were never met. He did drop Forever Waiting, and that was probably my highlight of the night.
I think that his shaky start at the beginning of the set, dictated the night. He didnt really seem to be enjoying himself, like he usually does. Also... on the right side of the stage, there was a line of people trying to get their signed, and Tiesto wasn't really digging that, but these people didnt get it. A few people were trying to get dollar bills signed, and at one point he threw the money on the ground. That was funny.
Anyways... I would give that set a 5/10. Nothing really impressive, and his remix to Barber's Adagio for Strings doesnt even compare to Ferry's live unfortunately. I guess I've seen Tiesto too many times in the past rip the roof off, but this wasn't one of them. BTW, Ian... I didn't see you there, did you skip out? I kinda wish I had.

Yeah, I never actually made it up to NYC. I had a Continuing Education Class last night from 6-9 outside Philly and just didnt get out in time to make it up there. Sounds like I didn't miss much. Hopefully Mauro performs a bit better for us next week @ ARC. Let me know if you wanna hit that up. I'll be seeing Scott Bond the night before so next weeekend should be better. |

But after listening to TIesto in concert last week AND the Nyana CDS, I didn't expect to be jumping around the whole time. That's why I brought my camera. I rarely do, as I prefer to dance, but I knew I could walk around during tiesto.
| quote: | | Alot of filler type tracks, and during these songs, the crowd looked bored. | my take on the crowd is dopey drugs and heat. 99% of people I knew were on dopey drugs and 100% were sweating their asses off. there was NO air in that place.

I mean, maybe I am givng the guy too much of a break, but how pumped can you be @ the Roxy in comparison to ULTRA. but this is my opinion. Anytime I have seen Tiesto in a club setting, he is more low key / low energy.

I liked the DJ booth on the stage. wish they did that for pvd.
My TAKE: Tiesto is no PvD or Victor Dinaire but he's still lots of fun. I like his beat matching a lot. |

I had a great time - it's always about friends and family at these things. Running into everyone that you know is always amazing.
Brianna - you are and looked beautiful, you were radiant last night.
Isaac - I always love running into you and then spending the rest of my time with you.
Victor Dinaire - you were my highlight of the night, I finally got to meet you after going to so many of your incredible sets.
Avi - its always fun knowing that you are there but I wish you would have gotten the phone #.
This was my first time seeing Tiesto, I don't get out much because I work at another club in the city but the set had it's moments.
The high part for me was MindCircus and the low point was the Barbers' Adagio. Also I thought maybe just maybe it wouldn't end so early - 6am with no encore, hummmm......I guess I'm spoiled. But I'm from New York - it's take alot to impress a New Yorker. |
