ok, i usually back tiesto from any bashing, but for some reason it really bugged me that he didnt play no encore nor saying bye to his fans that was there to support him....man i think my fears are coming true...tiesto having a tragic and unfortunate ending like oakey....fame can really get to your head sometimes:sadgreen: :sadgreen: i just hope my fears are not true but what happened friday night, unfortunately my heart tells me that this is whats going to become of tiesto:rolleyes: i mean his music is still GREAT AND STILL TAKES ME ON A MAGIK JOURNEY, BUT THE PERSON IS NOT THE SAME...maybe he was having a bad night who knows??????? |
heh. not really. the last couple of times I seen Tijs, he was totally freindly and happy. Perhaps he was not feeling well or something happened at Roxy that made him act this way???
mmmhh hrhr :sadgreen: |

Alright.. I'll give a review too...
The night was alright. I'm guessing all the PS2 sponsorship and what not made Roxy rearrange the booth and everything for Tiesto. That was pretty cool; much better than the regular booth setup there. They handled the lines pretty well too. I got there at 1:30-2 and was in within 15 minutes.
Tiesto was alright but definately not as good as everyone had told me he'd be. Last time at Roxy, I thought his set sucked a lot because of his terrible mixing but people had told me he's been better lately so I decided to check him out again. He didn't really improve.
I tried to concentrate less on his mixing but it was so damn hard not to notice how terrible it was. Some of those transitions were just mindnumbingly bad. None were terribly off beat but some were so badly timed that they just killed any energy in the set. Not that there was much energy. There was no real direction in his set; no build up of energy or anything. The timing was really bad though. I mean, this guy has no idea how to pull off a seamless mix. He brings treble from an incoming track in in the middle of a phrase. It's so obvious and sounds so very bad. It's in no way creative either if you're planning on using that for defence. It just sounds like crap. And his bass drops. Wow, don't get me started on those.
This man needs some lessons on EQ control. He's gotta learn some timing with them and he's gotta stop doing that damn cut-up crap or at least learn to do it decently. Technically, yesterday's set left a lot to be desired and that really made the night hard to enjoy.
On the up-side, some of the tracks he played were nice though. I wasn't expecting to hear Mindcircus or Eugina so those were pleasent surprises. I really wanted to hear the breaks remix of Breathing too. Those breaks are so nice and that 303 line is sooo good.
One thing I noticed though with the few breaks tracks he played and with the ones Sanger played too. Nobody likes breaks or nobody dances to them I should say. The whole crowd only reacted to big build-ups and breakdowns. Nobody reacted to breaks. When breaks came on nobody would dance. I don't get it... oh well, maybe it's a new york thing... or maybe everyone was too cracked out to care... :conf:
Anyway, Tiesto was unimpresive again. I though he could make up for last time but Friday night shows he hasn't changed... :sadgreen: |

i think ur right, it has to be nyc, cuz in miami at space he fockin tore that club into pieces no joke hehh iono i think alot of DJs on NY as if NY was the mainstream of mainstream music so i guess they feel that they have to make their set just for a nyc crowd..iono |

yup , you are right, the boy tore space apart!!!!!!!!!! as to break beats in nyc...that doesnt work , pvd tries doing that here too and nobody likes that in nyc. frankly, i m starting to not like the crowd that goes to these events..i mean besides the ones that are there for the dj, but frankly i think people just get too ed up on drugs and everyone by the end of the night just walks around like zombies:rolleyes: thats why the vibe on friday sucked!!!!!!!!! PLUZ FREAKIN IT WAS HELL THERE TOO :whip: i cant forget how freakin hot it was pissed me off:whip: |

| hmmm.. you know what... after writing that, I kind of realized I had a pretty damn good time consigering the circumstances. Sure, his mixing was bad, but not caring about it made the night a lot better. I mean, it was really nice hearing some of those tracks in the club and just enjoying and dancing to them with other people (the non-cracked out ones). Ever since I started mixing, I've been listening to technical stuff too much... I've gotta stop doing that and just start having fun... :) |

Well, his mixing was shotty at times, but I enjoyed myself none the less. It was a better atmosphere then PVD's last appearance there which was down right terrible. My night started by goin to Virgin and hearing his mini set and then meeting him and getting my Nyana signed and a new pic with him. Man was a class act and thanked me for my support.
The classics brought back memories, but I was upset with not hearing Amazon or Obession specifically. He still hasnt lost his #1 spot with me, but left a little to be desired. Miami spoiled all of us that were there at Space and Ultra. :( |
