hip-hop headz could very well be saying the same thing about trance. they probably think there's no creativity, and the same formula is being used in every song. just like we have informative forums like tA to inform about the best in electronic music (not the crappy ), it's the same for hip-hop. if you actually take the time to find good underground (i.e. Mr. Lif, Tonedeff, Abstract Rude Prevail + Moka Only, Swollen Members, Esoteric, Last Emperor, Cunninlynguists, Afu-ra, Gza, Grouch & all of Living Legends, Gang Starr as previously stated, killarmy & the whole wu-family, freestyle fellowship) then you would all think differently about hip-hop. the fact of the matter is, most people on this forum don't know about tru hh, they just hear what's on the airwaves and judge it based on that. so if you don't know anything about the genre, u shouldn't talk about it.

| a lot of people i know they call it techno :whip: :whip: but they all say the same thing about trance that it is kinda basic and its repetitive. but of course this is what they hear on those trance 4000 cds all the cheese but when they hear the great stuff us ta's hear then they kinda change their minds. people here in the states listen to hip hop and in my town a lot of punk. now i dont have a problem with either of them if its good ill listen to it but those punk heads think their music is better and how can it be when its screaming and yelling and u cant understand a word and they all say there's a message behind it usually anti govt crap which is funny cuz they get paid to do the cds and shows and its govt money. hip hop on the other hand if u look at the charts its all hip hop and all the wannabes like it cuz its sells. i can throw an old school rap artist track that wasnt commericalized and they will be like who's this??? majority of the hip hop fans like hip hop cuz its all they hear unless a track like dj sammy - heaven is being played by the stations and they think the vocals are the best ever:haha: if they only knew... |

| Real hip-hop is not dead... don't lose the faith my friend! If you are doubtful, I can name some artists worthy of mention. Check out Prefuse 73, he's on Warp Records (same label as Aphex Twin), and he is changing hip-hop. |

-Fist of all since when should a person be banned for asking a question??
-Second, Im sure from the suburbs you're from you know everything there is to know about hip-hop.
-Third, what is this bull that if you dont know anything you shouldnt talk about it, So i guess growing up with hip-hop and living in West Coast makes me not know anything about it. , I was listening to hip-hop since the beginning, when digital underground and nwa were around.(I'm sure you know all about them)
-Anyway, I better stop this before it gets ugly, but before running your mouths in read! It's a in question.
hey and I was also kidding about that last part too (well, half kidding) |

I moved on from rap to trance way back in 1998 when I became bored with it. I'm glad I did because the scene has turned to garbage lately...I mean we have "artists" making commercial hits out of songs about shoes...of all things....SHOES! :o
I will still listen to a few artist such as Nas, DMX, Eminem and a handful of others. But I've pretty much given up on following the scene. |

I stopped in 93
that's when Hip Hop lost it's fun
Trance is by far ruled out Hip Hop in my opinion
there's too many +'s for Trance and too many -'s for Hip Hop
Hip Hop doesn't compare , it's too negative |

| When it comes to hip-hop...oh god...especially here in the states...not something I want to get into but I don't think i could EVER get into it. I just never liked the rough negativity as someone mentioned. Sometimes it's almost depressing... I dont know....I know it's not all the same ....but guess it's just not my cup of tea and never will be. I start getting dizzy after a minute and fifteen seconds of hearing. |

Real hip hop is still as prevalent as ever, its just "Underground"
Living legends kick ing ass, DJ Vadim bad ass as well you just have to look harder i have hiphop head freinds so i still hear it quite a bit, it seems like all you hear is crap now is cuz you are into trance and electronic genres so you dont dig for good stuff in that ne more, the mainstream is crap and always has been pretty much with a few exceptions. And trance is a whole different boat dont worry about it going into that walk of music. |

bingo, I actually like hip-hop drum programming, and the raps aren't terribly annoying IMO, but the music between the beats & the rap, sounds empty to me. |
