| I was just wondering how many of you out there try to get your buddies to listed to trance?? When I listen, the music does so much for me mentally, it allows my mind to wander, think clearly, and totally relax. I tell them to hear the music, not just listen to it. Most of the time they listen for 5 minutes and say they don't care for it really, its ok, but not their thing. It seems though for me, I try and push it on all my buddies and see if they will convert to tranceaddicts like myself. Does this story sound at all familiar to anyone else?? |

| Yea, happens to most minority cultures. People try to spread their beliefs to others, in hope to justify their own choice in life. Its sad but true for most people. I try to avoid doing such things, because you begin focusing on what other people think, and not what you think/experience from the music. |

| I would not try to convert my friends to listen to any type of genre. I would suggest it to them but not try to convert them to listening to it. Every1 has a choice. As much as I don;t like certain types of music I would not try to tell them to listen to trance or anything else for a change. That is a choice that is totally up to the individual in question themselves. |

I agree with emaster. Your post however does not apply to me. When I get people into the music I do it because I LOVE the music and how it makes me feel and I wish for others to feel this way. It does NOT mean I feel I have to spread trance in order to justify my own liking of it. I couldn't give a if no one else liked it (hell it already feels like that because not many people here do like it as compared to Europe, the rest of the world etc, or so it seems) and I was the only person listening to it. Me focusing on what other people think only exposes their ignorance to it and if even after giving it a chance it's just not for them fine. But if they blatantly don't even give it a chance then that's just ed up and wrong. You won't know until you give it a try. When I try and get ppl into what I'm into it does NOT in any way whatsoever take away what I think/experience or feel from the music. In fact it only makes what I love about it more apparent because I explain it to those other people exactly what it does to me. |

i will never ever tell someone to listen to something...
i never push, and they never shove back. everybody is ignorant or 'close minded' at one point of another, and not everybody can accept unconventionality...whether it be music, clothing, etc. a gentle exposure beats coercion in my book. eventually, some will listen, and even a few will love it (trance); none the less, they (those who listen to trance) will still love it, even more so if they find it on their own accord.

| i thought this post had to do with converting lesbian friends (or for the girls, converting gays), lol.. in any case, i believe the same concept applies such that everyone has their own choice and feeling of what they like and what they don't like.. if you really want to try converting them, do it subtly -- don't try to force them to like what you like, rather show to them why you enjoy what you like.. |

To add to the discussion.
How can you call people close minded. People can listen to whatever they want. If they have heard trance before and don't like, thats pretty much it. Whatever they listen right now could do the same thing for them as what trance does to you. Its purely justification of your own beliefs. |

| Ive converted at least 10-15 people this school year alone at college... I started with just myself and one other friend going to clubs/raves and now I got a group of at least 10 people who just love the music and the party atmosphere... most people just dont give the music a chance. |
