This guy's Ok in my book

At a press conference in the US, Mr. Chrétien was asked about the increasing number of drugs coming across the border between US and Canada. Somewhere in Mr. Chrétien's mind, he thought that the reporter was speaking about the increase in trucks (as in trade) crossing the border.
Good Ol' Jean replied, "Trucks? It's good! Let them come across the border! We will take all we can get!"
The crowd, the country and the president of the US sat in silence.

^^^ Actually.....Jean Chretien is far from being a moron. He's actually quite a brilliant man, believe it or not. It's just that his age (65), his Bell's Pulsy (a disease that makes one side of your face droop) and the fact that his native language is FRENCH and not English make his communication image not look so swell.

I had the pleasure of meeting him in early April at my university and talked with him for 2 minutes. Really nice guy. And....let's not forget that Canada is still in the top 3 best nations in the world to live in (after being Number 1 for 8 years straight under Chretien since 1993). Where's the US on that list? At number 9!

If anyone is a moron....it's Bush. How many times can we quote him on ed up grammar? I cringe at the number.

Just a second, according to what/whom is that so?

Canada is not the top nation, or even the second top nation, to live in.
Its population is very small, leading to few opportunities, and it lacks political and economic clout.

I agree it has less crime than the US, but by no means is the standard of living there higher than in the USA. Just look at prices the next time you go to your grocery store. Or look at your paycheck.

And by the way, I agree Bush is a moron, but Chretien can't put two words together, either -- his oratory skills are not much more impressive.

It was based on UN quality of life standards. Reports released every year.

Oops! You're from the US of A, where the UN is only united if it backs American interests.

Check yourself on the dollar issue. Canada's currency has risen recently, and our prices are lower. (Cheapest place outside of the developing world to buy legal CDs.)
