| what did cow town do? well our mayor passed a by law...raves have to have permits now..they have to have security, access to water. And other petty little things, that should be going on anyways(cept the permits) IMO its not a bad deal..but for promoters its a hassle I guess |

they are indeed harsh. things are really going down hill. thanks for the suggestion about the law suit. it seems like more of a one person effort though. i was looking for something that people have done in other areas that everyone in the scene could participate in. |
Well a lawsuit can be made by 1000's of people (collect a buck from each and u got enoght cash for a good lawyer) we had the same in toronto, where no gov't building could be used for a rave (and there are no large places that are not gov't owned. so we had this daytime rave right outside the City hall, we had like alot of DJ's come. it was basicly a free rave, after that, they dropped those rules. |

i like how the gov't and the media believes that promoters push drug use on party-goers...
when they try everything within their power to stop drug use in raves... i.e searches
sure, they prolly could do more through searches, but that wouldn't be very practical, because as it is, if you want to get in by midnite, be there by 10, cause most of the time, it's like a 2 hour wait in line here |

| there is also craziness going on in new york of all places. you would this that people would generally be more liberal there. Guliani is a nazi that is trying to shut everything down. Look at twilo, it closed. |

To all the Edmonton partypeople: things are being done to fight the bylaw, we have been collecting petition signatures at Viva Las Vegas, everybody I talked to was very enthusiastic about what we were doing. We also managed to get Nicky Miago (the promoter) to stop the party at 3am and tell everybody that if the bylaw was in effect everybody would have to leave the party.
There is a rally (toronto-style) planned for Sunday, June 24th (the vote on the bylaw will be on June 26). Location TBA. Spread the word.
Also the official Edmonton Right to Dance website is

We need all the support we can get.

I chicago they are trying to implement this crazy law that a rave is considered to be happening, when there are a hundred people and there is a DJ spinning and those will be outlawed. |
I heard the very same thing about 2 months ago...damn shame. I thought it passed, but maybe if was up for vote or something. |
