Hey I was wondering if you are supposed to try and match the beat of accapella's when putting them over tracks....
Just listening to G&D essential mix at the beggining when Led Zeppelin - 'Babe I'm Gonna Leave You (pqm acappella)'is thrown over
Virgin Souls - 'Personality (James Zabiela Remix)'. It sounds like its matched, but I was just wondering if any of you guys have tips for cueing up and matching accapellas to beats and grooves.

| Yes it is essential you try and beatmatch accapellas as it could sound horribly out of sync. You just really have to listen!!! |

Yes, definitely match it, unless you have something weird in mind.
BTW, you've probably already thought of this...but the easiest way to get it exact is to beatmatch to the original track that they were singing to. Or an instrumental of the track. I takes me a long time to try to beatmatch to an acapella exactly, but the tracks are easy. |

OR.... you could digitally edit the acappella to fit what you
have in mind, and drop them from a CD-R, or from a sampler...
look at Steve Lawler, he is famous for his acappella abilities,
check the following:
his Lights Out CD
Live @ Loveland 2002
Live @ Radio 538 (2002)
check the vocals, you might find 'lets get twisted'
and 'this is the underground' more than once, the man
can work some vocals :D even if you dont like dark prog
or tribal house, check out his for good acappella
mixing... (plus, STEVE LAWLER IS THE ) |

Accapellas have to be beatmatched so they will stay in time with the remix you are dealing with...i dont think you could work a unmatched accapella...impossible...my new remix is the first time i have worked with accapellas...

| Accapellas have keys Those keys are usually in 16 bars... Bah, I think you can hear it pretty easely when they're not matched, so, indeed, it's quite important... |
