Questions about Roxy, NYC

Forgive me if it's been discussed to death already, but could someone give me some info on the Roxy? I'm heading down to NYC on July 11 to see Armin and Remy, and I'd just like to know what to expect from the club, itself.
To be perfectly honest, I've only ever been to Avalon in Boston before, so that's my only real reference point.
I've heard that Roxy has a Phazon soundsystem, but that's it's not as good as what Twilo had, and that's about all I know. Is the club nice inside? Is it usually well air-conditioned? Is there a place to chill out? Also, are there any decent restaurants close by that I could eat at before going to the club? Thank you very very much! |

| i'm not too familiar with NY....but i have been to roxy. its nice and big with a lot of room to dance. you can't smoke in there, but there is a fire escape where you can go out and cool off. last time i remembered, it didnt get that hot. and i've been told its a roller skating rink during the day, so its pretty interesting to imagine the transformation. ill be there as well, come say hi!! :) |

Yup the club is nice
and Made Events will do it up even better
They have brought lasers and video projectors for PVD and Tiesto, but I'm not sure if they'll do it here.
Temperature control IMO is pretty good.
In addition to the area outside for smoking, there are two rooms for chilling out, one near the entrance, and the other fairly close to the DJ booth.
The security check might be a little more than what you probably experience at Avalon.
Across the street (10th Ave) and a few blocks down is The Park

I haven't eaten there, but it seems like a nice space.
Maybe you can see models and celebs there. Or so I've heard.
I have a feeling that being dressed like a raver might seem a little out of place there, but I could be wrong. Has anyone else been there?
A little farther away, you could also try Markt, which serves Belgian food

If you're not in a large group (as some of us have tried and had the unfortunate experience), try Cafeteria after clubbing. It's 3 blocks across town on 7th Ave & 17th St.

I talked to the laser guy at Arc for J00F... they will be at AvB and PvD in Central Park...
Roxy sorta sux and they totally redid it, which makes it alil smaller... A lot of posers tend to go but it is more manageable than other places like say Sound Factory, Exit, Webster Hall, etc... (I am referring to the old Sexy@ The Roxy parties than the special oneoff's, though there were a lot of losers at Tiesto, which was to be expected, not sure how the AvB crowd will be.) |

| it was pretty empty for avb last time so it didn't get too hot... should be a mixed crowd with a lot of guidos and guidettes who don't know what's going on and a bunch of fans dancing on the "stage".. if they still have the stage that is... |

You'll find most of the TA's either right in front of the booth, or on the stage just behind (if they set it up).
Speaking of people who don't know what's going on...
Reminds me of what Sunshine79 told me once, that at a PVD night, some random person told her "This DJ is really good!" LOL |

Hey thanks a ton for the info guys (and girls).
I'm only going down with one other person, so hopefully we'll get to meet some new faces and talk to some of you guys in person. I'm really looking forward to it. See you on the 11th! |

Oh sorry to bother you guys again, but I have just two final questions.
When does the Roxy usually close? Does it go past 6 AM usually (or ever)? Thanks! I only ask because I'm probably taking the train down from New Haven, CT and I just don't want to get trapped in NYC waiting for the morning train if Roxy gets out at like 2 AM or something.
Thanks again! |

when i went to tiesto at the roxy i think they made him stop at like 6:30, the crowd was screaming for more but someone from the club told him he had to stop then i think.

avb is cominge eh? sot been kicking ass lately and i like his new album 76 -(but you left me in the rain) - might have to go to this 1... |

| Tiesto got off at 6:30, but Noel Sanger played from 6:30 to 8 i think? normally Roxy is open anywhere from 7:30 to 8:30 for these special events... so catching a train shouldn't be a problem. |
