Some hackers do serve a good purpose , as there do inform big companies about there security flaws, h4x0rs will always exist , just gotta deal with it, i think companies like RIAA are asking for it, there gonna get DDoS attack, and then someone is gonna arse wipe there homepage and there network ,lhahahahah |
i recently read an article about a guy who, out of his own spare time, looked at security vulnerabilities of people who play games online. however, the game companies found him a nuisance and told him to quit "hacking" their products. |

Highly doubt that. From what I've heard from other hackers, Mitnick is . His hacking skills, even during his hacking days, are weak. He's a social hacker, in which his true technical hacking skills and tools are below-average at best.
Now watch I'll probably get hacked for that. Oh well. |
Yeah, ol' Kev was more of a phreaker than a hacker. I used to have a FREE KEVIN sticker on my laptop. Heh. |

Well at the risk of going against everybody's opinion, I must say I disagree with all of this crap. Hackers are like spammers to me, they are meant to annoy and disturb. Just imagine if you were workin for one of the companies who gets hacked, you dont bug anybody and just wanna work your damn day and go home, but this one single 15 yr old geek could make this day a nightmare, just for the fun of bragging about it to his friends. I don't think you'd find it so amusing being in the skin of that guy..
These people are simply asking for it, and they deserve a taste of their own medicine .. darn kidz :whip: :whip: :whip: |
Beh, you're talking about script-kiddies.
The rule of thumb is:
If anyone knows who a hacker is, then he isn't a hacker. Most of the guys you might have heard of are just mainstream or "sellouts" to the real people that could actually throw over governments and whatnot.
I used to write for a couple hacking ezines; I did a couple articles on the social evolution of "hackers" and what society has made them. It's sad. Oh well. |

I still have a couple Free Kevin stickers. I even have the recently released Freedom Downtime DVD. Haven't watched it yet, though. |

Even then they're not hackers, by most true definitions. They're crackers. Hacking is what the Open-Source model is based on; being able to look at the code for free, and change it to get it to do things it wasn't originally intended to do. It's also not following instructions and figuring out different ways, or learning how technology works. That's what hacking is.
Breaking into systems illegally is cracking. |

Touche.
That reminds me of Sneakers. Best hacking movie ever.
Think they could ever make one that truly depicts the hacking sociology of it all? Some LoD guys, Eric Bloodaxe and stuff. I'd watch it. As long as they didn't have imacs. Hehe. |

I haven't seen Sneakers. I'll have to check it out.
I think that making a true movie about hackers is possible. But knowing Hollywood, even if they had the right intentions, they'd end up screwing it up somehow. |
