To be honest with you, the last couple of times I went to GUV on a regular nite, Mark bored the hell out of me and I was out of there before 3am... (and don't tell me he picks it up after 3am, cuz I'll just bitch slap you for that).

But I guess I just don't dig him anymore... that's just me, and I really don't feel like going against all you TA's and GUVaholics on this one, so let it go...

I agree to a certain extent. :)

Dear Barbara,

Skipper here again. I tuned into Global Gathering, hoping to hear your set, but it's all trance and house. So, so sad!

Ah well, I hope that mixed-genre line up works out better for you tonight than it did at Bal en Blanc.

I hate to burst bubbles and I'm not trying to piss anyone off, but owning records spanning more than one genre is not really versatility... at least not in the same sense as being an instrumentalist or vocalist and being able to improvise any style of music. The most versatile DJs are techno DJs, who can take pretty much any track and turn it into a completely different kind of tune with effects, filters, and/or scratching. They literally remix the tracks on the spot, which is something that most trance and even jungle DJs simply can't do.

And sorry Mark if you're reading this but c'mon, if you want to take the world by storm, you've gotta have something distinctive about your style! Playing to a crowd is great, but it won't make one a superstar - every crowd is different and most aren't like the Guv crowd.

And no Christina, you're not the only one frightened of the BT boys. :nervous:

i dont think by versitality they meant on the spot remixes and extremely technical mixing but rather the fact that the dj spins multiple genres which everyone knows is not a common thing.....some famous djs now are trying to be "versatile" to keep their spot on the popularity charts

buddy whut r u talkin about, r u sayin mark isn't versatile because he can't scratch on the spot. i think u have the wrong definition of versatile mate. and about being distinctive..how more distictive can u be,every time i hear mark, its a whole different style."oh mark's style isn't discintive because he can't scratch?!!? ya okay?!?! if it wasn't mark, the guv wouldn't be whut it is today, and if it wasn't for mark, the guv wouldn't have 4000 people every week, and gettin people to drive from all over just to hear mark spin. so i don't get whut ur sayin when u say he needs to be more distinctive?!?!?

Ok, now you're pushing it bro... first of all, there are no 4,000 people in GUV every week, second of all, half of those people don't even care who the hell it is up there in the DJ booth spinning since all they wanna do is take some drugs and enjoy the loud music :eyes:, trippy lights  and good looking people :eyespop:
