Emono I like u already.

Ive seen Armin twice in the last year or so, have listened to some ASOT's and have thought this-
The man is a great party DJ. I just personally find his oversaturated, super sweet, uplift till u spew style a little too much. Yes his sets have great flow and he can werk the crowd like nobody's business...but where is the substance...where is the that makes you cry..where are the stages where you are dancing along in a settled groove for five minutes and then blam outta nowhere some massive track hits you in the face??Where is it??!? U missed it cos every single track is hitting you in the face..over and over again.

While Nyana may not be the best mix CD ever at least with this tiesto is trying something new..something innovative..something creative.
Imagine being at an all techno party and tiesto coming along and PLaying something similar to the outdoor CD...he gradually goes from tekky beats into trancey beats and then lets it rip...

I really like his werk on this CD..it shows growth.

i think its a pretty good cd... :)

and what do u mean "where is the uplift?" 'let the light shine in, the gift - love angel', midway - inca, venus, urban shakedown, tears from the moon, i think those are all great uplifting songs.

You know exactly the feeling I'm talking about, or you wouldn't be writing that. I used to get that feeling so often ... going out clubbing in '99 - '00 ... listening to the essential mix ... when I had my first listen to any one of those first half dozen Gatecrasher comp's ... but now I live in a town in a country where no one spins live trance, and I just haven't had one of those jaw dropping spine tingling epic-new-trance-track feelings for months :(

I don't really get off on AvB either, its OK but its too predictable, and I still can't grow up and listen to prog, it does my head in trying to listen to that . Hence why I still follow what Tiesto and Oakie are doing because I first heard so many blindingly good tunes from them once upon a time. And why I get pissed off when I listen to the new Tiesto album and it does nothing for me.

And why I still follow this website, even though it is just 99% teeny boppers talking it up about who loves Armin the most, and seeing who can get the most half-dressed chicks and gay rice rocket cars into their sig files  , I have hooked up with some bloody good pointers for cool livesets and new producers from hanging round here.

Your right Baabee it was disc 2 that I listened to ... operating on the Kia Kaha principle that the 2nd disc of a multi disc compilation is always the best ... I will go and listen to the first one in its' entireness. I would love to come back here and eat my words :)

why do you keep bashing on armin for no reason? have you ever listened to the second parts of ASOT? oh, wait, you hate prog.

i think nyana is a fairly good album, even if a bit too.. err.. empty. it sounds like your regular trance compilation, with the difference that almost every track on there is good, but there's no OMFG stuff. Tiesto's mixing is too average as well.. but it manages to balance techno, prog and trance in a good way I think.

Far too judgemental in life people ;) :p

I dont like it
Bored me when i listened to it
Prefer The Gatecrasher Resident 2 CD

right on the money there mate.
however, armin does play varying stuff on asot.
but agreed, live, he rams u over n over with big tunes.
get a lil, howdya say bland + cheesy.

hehe, i'm gonna get crucified for that last comment?

julesplees, any chance of a mix cd?
love to hear ur stuff.
bilange
Well... frankly, Nyana was so-so. I dont like the style in the songs on CD1, and half of the songs on CD2 are enjoyable.

Trance my ass - sounds to me more like some trendy downbeat bull that would get played in a wanky cafe in Chelsea while 'it' girls drink their lattes and compare the price of pashminas.

Where the hell is the UPLIFT??!! The emotion? The feeling of being on a journey, that you normally get with any Tiesto mix album, even the slow ones like ISOS.

If you're into that sort of slow wanky fashion-store-background-music type of trance then I guess it's great but f.f.s. we are talking about TIESTO here ... the man behind Gouryella - the man behind Silence ... the man who used to send shivers down my spine with sheer emotion in just about every one of his mixes.

:( :( :( :( :( :(

There is a lot of emotion in this album, but appearantly you don't know how to identify with it. It sounds as if you've never heard these songs live either. If you ever heard "As the Rush Comes", "Never", Or "Chutney" dropped during a peak moment of a set, you'd realize that all these tunes are massively danceable and/or intensely emotional.

naw, that's really not the only reason why it sucks
and, tracks sounding the same..
i would label that as 'flow'

or perhaps you should enlighten me,
vintage, masterful Jules.

And your taste in music just happens to be better than everyone elses?

Right.....
