Best all time prog DJ: Sasha. Nice deep progressive trance, although he has been quite a slacker these days.
Best current prog DJ: Ashley Caselle - this guy's got some serious skills. His essential mix in Jan... 40 tracks in 2hrs through layering. Just insane .
Honorable mentions: Zabiela, Kleinenberg
Best producers/Remixers: Holden, G&D, Porter, Chable, Warren, Scumfrog
Digweed is alot darker & much nastier than Sasha... I love his style. I wouldn't even catogerize him as progressive.
I saw that some of you mention Howells... but he's like Picotto - I can't categorize him to 1 genre. He's all over the place with his selections (and very inconsistant.. 1 night brilliant, the next *snore*). |

Yes prog can have trancy elements but over layout of the track and sequencing of the beat overall bpm are much different then trance tracks ...and no progressive djs arent trance djs at any means.. Prog can aquire sounds of almost any genre out there its more of what the vibe is of that song that makes it progressive ...progressive is more of a mood set then anyhting else. even though armin created a great prog track early in his years called Blue fear hes by far not a prog dj or producer |
Hm. I would call Blue Fear tech trance. I don't like the word progressive. Again I think any "prog" track can be divided into progressive trance or progressive house. In fact I don't remember people even bringing up the word "progressive" years back without an accompanying genre. You're saying the style originated in the early 90s, by 2000 the genre, if it is a genre, should have already be labeled long ago. Now it seems like everyone just drops the "trance" or "house" off of a "progressive" track because it's supposed to be cool to say "I listen to progressive" or something. |

no offense progressive is a well established genre ..go ask any big name prog dj ...ask them ?? you might not hink it is because of it being labeled to house or trance... as me being a die hard prog fan i know im right when i say progressive is its own genre ... you dont seem to be a fan of this genre mayb its hard for you to understand that concept...abd blue fear if you listend to its sequencing and bassline and how the lay out of the track is its very prog like ....no offense but your trying to tell someone who is a die hard prog fan for years telling him what prog is ...i spin this genre and no other |
