lol thanks for that, I didnt know that but its pretty damn funny that someone from the UK was making fun of us for using a word YOU invented :haha:

I'm afraid all it shows is that the US couldn't come up with a good name for their own sport and couldn't even come up with a name for the sport they stole it from. Noone here calls it soccer, it's football. |

and for MLS being the #4 sport I HIGHLY doubt it, I'd like to see some facts to back that statment up, because from LIVING here and being a pretty big sports fan, I can see that mls scores dont even get on espn (not even on the little ticker down at the bottom!), and the only time a game is on tv is during the summer when there are no other sports playing, really the only time there is any interest in soccer here is during the world cup, but thats a fluke, kinda like the olympics (nobody cares about most of the olympic sports except during the olympics) |
You might not be aware, but you get a lot more commercials on TV in America than we do here. On the BBC channels we don't get any at all, ever. "Soccer" is not popular among US TV networks because of it's uninterrupted play. An NFL match is commercial heaven, there are commercial breaks every 5 minutes and the constant interruptions in the game facilitate this. A "soccer" match has 45 minutes of uninterrupted play, then 5 minutes of commercials at half-time, then 45 minutes of uninterrupted play again. Unlike American football, in "soccer" commercial breaks are not an option. In 90 minutes you have a 5 minute slot for commercials, that's it. |

| even if football becomes the biggest and number one sport in the US, they'll still treat it as a 'eat your hot dog, while you watch' sport, just like all those others. |

Do they do that at MSL matches as well? With music and cheerleaders and all that crap? |

and you guys should be pretty proud to beat the US at a spot that 95% of this country could give a about
so when you beat us at basketball, baseball, football, any track n' field event, skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, golf, tennis, and probably alot of sports I've never even heard of then come and brag |
Right:
Basketball.....who gives a f**k
baseball....dito
Football (American)....sissy's with two tonne of padding
Track n' Field...Last Olynmpics - Track (US, 5 golds) Field (1 Gold)...not exactly Kings of the hill (Europe & Africa wipe the floor with you)
Skiing...US can't compete with the Austrians, Norwegians and Swss
Ice Skating.....The Norwegians (speed) and Russians are masters
Golf...Ryder Cup Holders.....Europe
Tennis....World Rankings ..Men, 1.Ferrero, 2.Federer, 3. Coria (don't see an American there) |

owned.
anyway dont mind bentech, hes one of the many arrogant americans i meet everyday living here :] i was actually born in russia so im not technically american. but footie is taking off here. i wouldnt be suprised MLS is top 4 but i dont watch it. its awful really. i have fox sports world and watch european on there. MLS is just too... .boring, maybe thats why americans dont like it,they suck at it. the whole quarter final thing in wc was luck. and about americans being so "good" in all other sports. maybe because the rest of the world doesnt care for these sissy sports? footie = religion, get that in your head
basketball.. so boring my god. you touch a person its a foul. constant commercial breaks
hockey = i love but its not american,and canada = #1.
american football = longest football play ever is 11 seconds, enough said
baseball = rofl are you serious? stupidest sport ever invented
notice how all the sports americans love have commercial breaks? not from a marketing campaign, but from a viewer standpoint.. maybe americans dont like soccer because they dont have time to refill their snack bowl
:tongue2 |

Got to congratulate the Americans for making it into the quarter finals.

I totally agree. Like I said, if football becomes big in America they'd still treat it as an 'eat your hotdog while you watch' sport, whether it be watching it in the stadium or on television. And when playing any sport in America its like "Hey coach...okay coach...how are you coach?...sorry coach" :tongue2 |

| Americans are stat freaks, and football doesn't provide pages and pages of stats for fat yanks to remember and recall at completely inappropriate times. |

Like the rest of the planet I piss on baseball, hockey, American football and all of the rest of American useless bull. However when it comes to football you got to give the yanks respect for the progress they've made.
There is still a slew of moronic fatsoes in that country who are resisting the charm of the world’s sexiest game, however the progress that has been made in the US in the last 10 years is spectacular. Regardless of the lack of fanaticism like in most other countries, a whole army of Americans has grown to love the game and it shows all over the place. At MSL games you might not have a whole endzone full of hardcore Ultras but the scene is growing and you can’t compare the atmosphere @ MLS matches to other rubbish like baseball where your local fatsoes are engulfing hot dogs by the dozen. What saddens me is the fact that the US is full of immigrants from all corners of the world who refuse to give a chance to the MLS, yet any MLS team would probably tear apart any club in their homeland.
If you got an MLS team in your hometown and you refuse to support then you might as well fek off and die. They should either deport s like that or send them to watch curling or baseball :whip: :whip:
Another thing, the theory of the US in the quarterfinals being luck is the biggest load of bollocks any man can spit out. Some of the up and coming American talent is mind-boggling and what you saw is just a sing of things to come. Things are turning around and only the blind don’t see it. If the US doesn’t make the quarterfinals in 2006 it would be total surprise |
