iron on transfers

I've been wanting a Tiesto and/or Armin shirt for a while and i didnt want to pay heavy shipping on those websites so i tried those iron on transfer thingies. It worked , looked good for a day. Then I waited 72 hours to wash it, like the package said but they keep getting all faded and crackly right away! :whip:

Is there anyway to make it stronger or more durable? I was thinking about clear nail polish over it but it didn't work too well. PLEASE HELP! I'm sick of ruining my shirts...

sadly theres nothing you can do other then, turning the shirt inside out and washing it in the delicate cycle.. Iron ons are the biggest waste of money!! (been there =\)

Mosaic! What type do you use, like what brand?

silk screening works the best.

it is alittle complicated, and takes time, but the result practically lasts forever. and it looks like it was professionally printed on.

how does one go about doing this silk-screening? can it be done at home??
DJ Chrono
Yes it can be done at home, i did it last year in my art class.

You build yourself a simple wooden frame, just make sure it's bigger than your design.

Stretch across a piece of polyester fabric and staple to the sides. make sure it's tight.

Have your design on a sheet of paper. Flip the frame over onto the design, so that the fabric is in contact with it.

Now just trace your design using some sort of "resist". I dont remember what kind I used, but basically its like a paint that you apply with a brush. you can get pretty intricate details with it, aslong as you have a small enough brush.

Then you apply this other type of liquid wax paint stuff (sorry i forget what its called). just squigy it all over, and your design will resist the wax.

Run it under hot water, and the resist will disolve, leaving you with a negative image of your design.

Grab a T-Shirt, and some PERMANENT ACRYLIC INK, and just place the frame on the shirt, and squigy the paint over it.

Let it dry and you'll get an amazing print on you shirt. It also works on other material. I've seen it work on denim nicely too.

You should probably go to an arts store, or something like that, and they can point you in the right direction for the right chemicals/paint needed.

i made a tiesto shirt about a month ago, it still looks good. mind you i dont wear it every day, so wear and tear is probably minimal. still looks good after 6+ washes tho... 'cept the shirt shrunk

Dun bother doing it at home unless you don't mind you house getting all messy. and silk screening is professionl priniting. Thats why it costs so much to get them printed. But like DJ Chrono I also took a class ojn silk screening. So I got to make my own t-shirts using the shcools facilities. :toothless

Aren't there any places (online) where you can just order t-shirts with prints like PvD, Tiesto, Marco V and stuff like that (at reasonable price)?
