i would say just be there for her after the break-up, but then she might see you as more of a friend. it really just depends on how this girl is.

i say don't ask her out. Stay her friend, become good friends, then ask her out. I've seen that girls tend to go out with their close friends (the nice good guy) in the end after they've dumped/have been dumped by their old 'boyfriends'.
