I just have to say this is easily one of the coolest threads Ive ever read on a music board. Truly an original conversation and the fact there are so many great replies makes it that much better.
Of course, I also heard Digweed mix in the Doors "Riders on the Storm" one night at Twilo in 2001 |
wow I think this was the first thread I ever created on TA. hehe...anywho I heard Digweed mix in Riders on the Storm once too and it went perfectly during his set.
one new track that depresses me right now is the club mix of 4 Strings - Turn it Around. damn cursed ex girlfriend. I hate her, but I love her. bleh i am teh suck |

DJ Tiesto feat. Kirsty Hawkshaw - Battleship Grey
DJ Tiesto - A Tear In The Open
Scott Bond vs. Solarstone - 3rd Earth
although with 3rd Earth it's only sad right up until the melody kicks in and the beat drops around the 4 min mark. From there it's complete euphoria. Battleship Grey and A Tear In the Open on the other hand... so much emotion crammed into two awesome tracks.
I'd also like to add, pretty much anything by or including Sarah McLachlan. Delerium - Silence comes to mind, and while the Junkie XL mix is still a stormer, those vocals in World On Fire just oppose the bassline and bring the mood down. Guess that's why it works so well. |

If you have been left by your lover and you still love him/her, I think the following tracks may help you cry all day and, most of all, all night! No way out...

EMPYREAL SUN feat. ELLES DE GRAAF - From Dark To Light (original mix)
HOLDEN & THOMPSON - Nothing (original mix)
DEEPSKY feat. JES BRIEDEN - Talk Like A Stranger (Sunday Club remix)
ELLES DE GRAAF - Circles Of Why (Robert Gitelman remix)
DJ COR FIJNEMAN feat. JAN JOHNSTON - Venus (I Was Meant To Be Your Lover)(DJ Tiesto remix)
DELERIUM feat. LEIGH NASH - Innocente (DJ Tiesto remix)
ARMIN VAN BUUREN feat. JUSTINE SUISSA - Burned With Desire
CASS & SLIDE - Perception (vocal mix)
FIREWALL feat. KIRSTY HAWKSHAW - Sincere (Lange vocal mix) |

Ok no trance here, but I have to agree with what someone else said.
Portishead - Roads has to be one of the most depressing songs ever written, I love it - and much of Portishead's other work. Some other great depressing vocals that I love to listen to are:
Massive Attack - Black Milk
Massive Attack - Prayer for England
Portishead - Numb
Portishead - Undenied (Could be more depressing than Roads actually)
Portishead - Mourning Air
Sneaker Pimps - Velvet Divorce
All of these just give me goosebumps from start to finish, such fantastic songs. There are also two non-vocal songs that stand out for me too:
Portishead - Theme from to Kill a Dead Man (The name says it all)
Orbital - Belfast (Original Mix)
I'll have a think about which Trance. |
