I know Technics are great but if you had just enough money to buy used Tecnics TT's or a different brand but new TT's at the same price, which ones would you go for. I keep hearing Technics are indestructable. Or can we say tecnics depreciate the less than other brands? :conf:

I've bought an used SL-1200 MKII, too, and it's in a very good condition. No problems yet.
Of course, it's always a risk to buy used turntables, but as the Technics have shown that they run and run for years, even in club use, it's possible the best choice.

Depends on how muchyoure willing to spend... second hand technics are generally ok because theyre practically indestructible, but you can often get some new stantons or numarks for the same price.... just make sure whatever brabd you buy you get one of their top of the line models like the str8-100 in stanton range...

Buy technics
Anything else is a poor imitation.
Still holding value
Indestructable- and easily serviced.

its better to buy a used technics rather than a new numark or stanton

Thanks fellows, it is a matter of budget now :D
I was actually thinking of getting a dual cd player first then add tt's in time. I have been trying pc djing for a while with an external mixer. It is all up to $$$

Personally I'd buy the technics :)

what a completely ignorant thing to say.

depends on your outlook really.
They have been around unchanged for as long as they have for a reason...

They arent standard fit in 99% of clubs/bars/wherever by sheer coincidence.
They do what they do very very well- and in my professional opinion, nothing else comes close- in feel, speed and as a general package.
Goes a long way to explaining why a large proportion of djs aspire to owning a pair of 1200s/1210s.

I'd say with a smaller budget you can get pretty good deals on used mkII's in comparison with m3ds that are used.
The price for used m3d's can be over $100 in difference of price between the mkII's both used and they're barely any different anyway.
If you get some good auctions you can get used mkII's for around 400-500.
However I got my m3d's new at little over 600, makes me happy.:)
