For several months I've suspected DJ Pete of being DJ James M but I didn't want to put it up on the forums to avoid flame wars.

Read the story about him meeting James on a weather forum. This is extremely lame and very unconvincing. Also look at his style of writing. He uses the ` instead of the ' (apostrophe) and takes spaces between full stops and replies. The only other one out of the 4000 + members here on TA who used this symbol were DJ james M and all the other spam aliases. Also look at the reply from Eugene further down the page on that thread. He points out that DJ Pete has this unusual style of writing and after this DJ Pete changes his style of writing and never uses the ` ever again. I think this good enough proof.
Also DJ James M's sig image in his original account was http://compnayontheweb.com/queensla...ranceforme.jpg. I had a look at this site and it siad "Site owned by Peter Campbell and Michael Wright". Peter Campbell is DJ Pete.
Take a look at the similarity of these quotes: I put them in bold.

I this case the spelling mistakes are identical, and these aren't even common mistakes.
The story regarding Pete meeting James in a weather forum is definitely false. There is only about 1 in a Million chance that Pete could meet somebody on an Australian weather forum who likes the same kind of music and writes in exactly the same way. I think DJ Pete has a spam alter ego called James. The evidence is absolutely overwhelming! The is more evidence regarding ICQ numbers. |

i read one thread in there today and i did not want to read any more in case they contained the same sort of material.
2 ppl in TA describing how they like sex with dead animals and / or masturbating with dead animals or pieces of meat ?

cos most of the material posted in there is so Porn orientated now
we do have kids veiw these forums, kids that want to learn how to mix, want to get ideas for tunes to get, kids that want to know stuff about other countries cultures and club life for when they come visit
i am sure they dont want to see ppl talking about how they like to masturbate or what they want to do to other ppl !
the other thing about chill out is the amount of SAME threads
6 threads about the same topic and the same ppl posting in all 6 threads saying exactly the same damn thing which ALWAYS turns to either PORN or FLAMEing each other.
Swamper posted a thread, and i agree with him, an arguement is good, if its about stuff like the best mix or a DJ or the benifits of one mixer over another, that kinda thing, but when those arguements are just ppl telling each other to "f**k off" cos they have a
different sexual preference to someone else ( PORN link again ) its not what i want to see and i know for sure that MANY other TA's dont want to see it either.
Have u noticed the trend in chill out ? its always new ppl that seem to start the flame wars, and the same old ppl making useless posts, for why ? to get a higher status ? to make themselves feel important

Someone in this thread suggested like a Vetrans section. seems like a GREAT idea to me cos most of the vetrans talk about one thing and that thing is what brought us here . . . .

I said before that i thought we dont need any more moderators but when some of those moderators participate in the filth thats in chill out i changed my mind, we do need some more moderators.
I dont want to tell ppl about this site anymore and am starting to not want to participate in the forums cos its more like PORNADDICT.COM that tranceaddict.com now.
i dont want ppl to see some of the sick stuff thats posted on here.
they want to see that then there are PLENTY of websites offering all they can want.
Tranceaddict.com has grown in some good ways like how more ppl are offering to share music but thats been undermined by the amount of crap ppl post too, its got to stop or more of the TAer's that come here for the music will dissapear like so many already have.

| true...the "chill out" section got kinda disgusting and its gettin worse every day and we need to change that...a veterans section could be a solution but how do you wanna decide if ta user #4327 is suitable for this special section...you cant say this guy has 1000+ posts so he's in and that guy has 220 posts so he's out cause there are too many so called "ta"'s with a post count of 800 but 98% of their posts aren't music related...and dont you think that some skilled newbie gets scared away cause he has to dicuss with some wankers in the how-often-do-you-jack-off-section before somebody lets him get into the veterans section? any ideas...? |

| I agree with some of this but it's not just the Chill Out Room. This thread in the http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...45&pagenumber=1 Polls section aboutt masturbation and wanking in my opinion is completely unacceptable and should not be tolerated in a site where there are kids. |

very good points Andi and I do agree
postcount cannot be the criterium used to decide who gets to join - I only have a bit over 400 posts but I do try to contribute where I can :)
so I would be just a bit upset if postcount was used to make that decision - understandably so I think
on the other hand - how many "skilled newbies" does TA lose daily now because of the state the forum is in and the often offensive content of threads (mainly in chillout but invading other parts of the forum now *sigh*) and how many "spammers" do sign up because of the very same reason? |

Yes i have an idea, on DTF they have a thing called projects, newbies are not allowd in those projects until they can establish that they are "worthwhile" ppl to be let in.
i think intially Swamper should have the decision over who is to be allowd access to a "vetrans forum" and then he can assign moderators, different moderators to those that already exist.
Then those moderators can have power of allowing ppl access but those ppl need to be nominated by a already existing vetran and a good reason for the promotion ie. good knowledge of music, or offering a good variety of tracks stuff like that
obvisley this is just the seed of an idea that needs to be worked on and again we can all sit here and come up with solutions / suggestions but it is up to Swamper what happens here . . .

Everything you guys have posted here describes my feelings about the state of the forums right now. I personnaly believe the forums were of higher quality between December last year and 3-4 months after January.
The chillout section is in a sad state. There is a 3:1 ratio of posts to threads... and most of it is bull with flames and people using the boards as if it were a friggin' AOL chatroom.
Personnaly, I try to contribute where I can. Ive provided alotta technical assistance (w/things such as music software), and when someone requests information (be it a trance project, latest news, etc), i will research the info for them and post it. I've ripped a few videos, and posted the occasional track that I got before everyone else. It's tempting to post alot of BS in the chillout section, but i try to resist. Nowadays I tend to keep a strict "necessity-only" attitude when it comes to posting. Even when i post less useful stuff (like humourous posts), i try to put effort into them. I think that's the biggest problem w/the chillout room, too many idiots typing simple non-contributive messages that take no effort and have no meaning.
It's funny, even Palivar (who made very few real contributions) put more positive effort into his posts than most spammers do around here.
Ever since the #tranceaddict room opened, i've found it to be a great place to vent anything that is non-trance related without the dirty feeling that im infilatrating the boards with nonsence. |

| ok guys i want to talk about what's happening in the music discussion forum right now . This section became download-leech of the day . Where are the good old topics & threads that discuss about music , dj's , big trance event , etc ... ? I'm not against sharing stuffs , i admit that i love downloading tunes , live sets , albums , vids , etc. but i don't like to see a music discussion corner changing into mp3 sharing . If we don't do nothing about it , leechers will come and take the music without saying at least "thank you" or something like that . I am also against creating a download of the day section because of the same reasons . I think the music discussion forum used to be an awesome place to share our opinions on tracks , dj's etc. , and i also think that it must be like it used to be before (sorry for the poor english skills) . Swamper please do something |
