it was out in my part of town from 4:10pm eastern to 1:30am
heh..its on now..hasnt gone out yet...but prolly will cos they say the city im in (kitchener/waterloo) will be getting rolling blackouts...which is when the power goes out in tiny sections of the city for an average of 2 hours at a time..and its said that it will continue to do that untill about sunday then things should be back up to normal hopefully...
anyways..for anybody who dosent know what happened..50 million people in the eastern sea board of north america (canada and usa) were without power due to power overload at one of the main stations...im not sure if they found the cause yet or n ot, but they are assuming its either a fire in one of the main stations, lightning strike (which is pretty much the same thing as the fire), the heat, or just an overload due to the amount of power being used....
if you were in the blackout..what were you doing when it happened?
when it happened here...i was on TA forums listening to music..then the lamp on my desk started go flicker...but didnt really worry...then the power went out totally. 60 seconds later when i was outside i heard sirens going off...so i assumed that somebody must have crash tehre car into a hydro pole or something...then my neighbour came outside and told me that all of ontario is without power too...so i thought wtf...then i put on my car radio to Global TV (but the FM radio version) and caught the breaking news...and found out that parts of the USA were out too...and they assumed it was an overload...then i just listened to the radio more...then some of my mates came over...everybody on my street was out walking around with flashlights, playing music from there car, watching the metior shower and looking at mars..basically having a good time...it was kinda fun. ;p |
