A good buddy of mine just got screwed off of an ebay buy as well. Unfortunately for the con-artist seller, my buddy is a white hacker who works for the IT security dept. at Sprint. So after he realized he was getting shafted by the seller, he did a little investigating on his own and tracked the guy down to a location in Vermont. He then proceeded to shut down his hotmail account (which isin't too difficult), shut down his ebay account, and hack his business website silly. He then got the FBI involved and handed them an encrypted folder detailing all vital info. on the man. And then he got his money back through his credit card co.
So maybe you might want to invest a few extra $ on a hacker that could substantially ruin the seller's life and give you a little payback. Just a thought. |
Well- to be devils advocate- The guy who ripped your buddy off committed one felony. (Might not have even been a felony- prob a misdemeaner larceny charge) Your buddy committed about 2-3 felonies. |

Ive bought/sold about 25 things on ebay without any problems whatsoever.
But, strangely, i also have an auction from August 3rd that i havent heard from or seen anything yet. Maybe its the same person. :eyespop:
Though the item i bought is $6 so if i did get screwed i wont be that upset...
I also never ever buy or bid on anyone that doesnt have a 100% or very close to 100 rating. I never buy from new buyers with a 0 rating either. Those are in all likelyhood the scammers. |

I've bought items on ebay probably about 35 times, never had any problems. Biggest purchase i've made was probably about £20 though, any more and I would deffo buy on a credit card cause then you get protection incase you dont get it ;) (here in the uk at least). |

I call bull on all accounts. Tracking the guy down, easy enough, he gave you his location info so you could send the bastard the money (or you can get it easily through the payment service). shutting down his hotmail account, assuming you know what his hotmail account is (he registered to ebay with it or whatever) then perhaps you could flood it with email, or maybe if you found some kind of exploitable vulnerability in hotmail (it's happened before) then you could really fsck with it. Shut it down??? NO FSCKING WAY IN HELL...
There is something you should understand before you go spouting your mouth, although the term "hacker" sounds cool, they are all-to limited in what they can do. A hacker can only exploit what somebody leaves open to exploit, fortunately (or unfortunately for them) this is usually rather limited in scope. If there was a vulnerability in the hotmail mailservice software (god knows what customly designed stuff they use) that allowed people to shut down accounts hotmail would have it patched damn near immediatly (and god knows how many IT news sites would be running articles with headlines bashing the hell out of microsoft (they are an easy target). That being said, you could lock somebody out of there own account if you aquired their password via said means (vulnerability in hotmail). The prospects of this? VERY UNLIKELY...
Hacked his website. Okay, so this one is remotely possible, assuming he was running it off his home computer or some shoddy hosting company that is. A lot of people run unpatched IIS implementations, and god only knows how many security exploits there are for those. Websites get defaced all the time, *IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL*. Most/all people have backups of the data on their website so it's promptly restored (if there are any databases, they are usually backed up regularly as well). Over-exxagerated impact to say the least.
Here is possibly the biggest thing that discredits you... quote: | He then got the FBI involved and handed them an encrypted folder detailing all vital info. on the man. | The question that immediatly arises in my mind, is do you *EVEN KNOW* what encrypted means? it means obfusicated, or in simpler terms "coded". Handing somebody a folder full of encrypted info is basically as useful as handing them a roll of toilet paper, they will both get used for the same thing. That being said, encrypted data is usually *DECRYPTED* before it is printed off into physical document formats. reading "4dsr234sdzxdfa4rw3adsfzdf234efzsdfz34wrerfdslfjxckfarqwerqzix" isn't going to be very enjoyable, even with the decryption key. On another note, what exactly is vital info? the last time he took a piss???? give me a break, your bullting through your nose.
The only real claims here is possibly you reported the activity to the fbi (although they largely do nothing), and you contacted your credit card company which reversed the charge. Good deal, but making up bull is unnecessary and serves to make you look real dumb.
That being said, i've never been shorted on ebay, however, i know more than one person who have conned several people via online auction services to the order of several thousand dollars. It's surprisingly easy to do, if your smart, and there is minimal chance of getting caught (although this window is declining at an exponential rate)... It all boils down to ethics i suppose. If you're willing to rip people off through an anonymous medium then that certainly says a lot about your character, i.e. your certainly a person i would never trust fully. |

how the do i get in contact with ebay? it's obvious they hate people contacting them coz they cant be assed to deal with peeps, and i really dont think they give a what happens to u.. The site is so badly set out and finding something specific is a bitch. ive searched high and low and cant seem to find an email address. it asked me to pay my listings fees, so i did via paypal, and i even got an auto-mated email from them saying the payment was successful:
quote: | Dear Mike,
This email confirms that ebay International AG has accepted the GBP 3.32
you sent. |
But im still getting a pop up box everytime i log in to ebay saying i still owe £3.32. Could it just be they havn't updated my account yet? I hate their site with passion i really do :whip: |

ebay doesnt want to be flooded with simple questions (phone or email) thats why they have a member forum so go here
http://forums.ebay.com/db2/forum.js...=STRK:MEBRL:019 if u cant get ur answer there then go to their help section and email them.
ur paypal account probably isnt setup correct when ebay aquired paypal u needed to update ur acount. |

*cough* bs *cough*
Ok, either youre lying through your teeth or your friend is seriously screwed up to do all that over an Ebay transaction.
Your friends a white hacker? Does that mean hes good? What does skin color have to do with hacking? lol
FBI? Sure... because the FBI have nothing better to do then look over a file with secret coded information about a guy that scammed you on Ebay. Yep, 100% believable. :stongue:
Or maybe i dont know what im talking about and your friend really is a 1337 h4x0r |
