LOL, what about some of the DJs you've listed in that recent thread you created about best progressive DJ these days ??

Anyways, my top 5 is:
1) Tiesto (don't think he is the best but he sure deserves it most this year, and his Docks set is amazing)

2) Paul Van Dyk (At Aria in Montreal, he played the best live set I've ever heard)

3) Marco V (kick ass banging tech-trance sets)

4) Dumonde (hard trance at it's finest)

5) Mauro Picotto (not as good as he was about a year ago, but still incredible to hear live)
Ortemy
1. Paul van Dyk
I think he deserved it long time ago, the only thing that does not make him justice - bad interaction with the crowd. His mixing is the best out of all trance djs!
2. Tiesto
TIesto in Concert was definately the highlight of the year for trance scene and some of his production were great, and Traffic is coming out soon also :D
3. Armin van Buuren
I think Armin's best days are still in front of him :)
4. Ferry Corsten.
Hearing him live in Montreal was amazing!
5. Sander Kleinenberg
God of mixing !!!!!
torontotrance
i voted this way

1.Adam Freeland

-Quite Simply the man, who else can play breakbeat and rock songs and make it sound decent. His Free*land stuff is amazing, his remixes are ace but he is such a great dj who has not soldout like half of the a list dj's.

2.Hybrid
-Quite simply amazing...their 5 hr set at system was amazing and their new material helps their dj sets. Quite simply up there

3.James Lavelle
-GU 023 was simply amazing and it was technically released after the last dj mag competition had ended oct 1/2002. Also his UNKLE remixes added him up there...especially the nasty God Damn Mother ing Son Of A Bitch UNKLE mix. Also the new album is probably top 3 albums of 2003..it's just that good. So he ends up number 3

4.John Askew
-Quite simply on fire, he has not fallen into playing crap vocals like some of the bigger trance deejays. Plus the guy can play techno and trance very well and plays them together in his sets. Very amazing dj plus his own productions and his remix of introspection which will end up top 7 of 2003 for me.

5.Dave Clarke
-Still ticking away, not as moody as ever but still on fire. His new album should be out very soon and judging by some of the tracks that the deejays have been playing, it will rule again. Very very good technical deejay who knows what to play and when to play it.

ppl that did not make the list

pvd - frankly overated
tiesto - dec 2002...horrible and he plays bad vocals....simply not his year....and nyana was trash.....plus he got so big headed from #1 spot which he did not deserve..
Armin - got too damn boring
ferry - nah
Jeff Mills - Simply not as great as past years..plus he won't play toronto....moody bastard.
discojoe
well durafei you and I had very different opinions about pvd's set at aria but i think judging by hearing him live and hearing his sets I dont think he should be in the top 10 anymore. But alas he will be just because of his name.

I would still put tiesto at number one. Armin might climb a spot or two and the rest of the usual supects will be up there too. IE. sasha digweed tenaglia...
dartrance
Its pretty obvious tiesto will take it (and hands down is most deserving of it this has been his year) , armin and van dyk will be in the #2 and #3 spots, maybe switched maybe not

Thats a definate, from there i would say your usual digweed and sasha oakenfold carl cox

Ferry might rise up a few but nothing major, he has been pretty quiet this year overall
ahlamalek
Deep Dish (OMG)
Sasha

for sure

as for the 3 others, its so hard to pick

Christian Smith
Steve Lawler
Tiga
Max Graham
Acquaviva
Zabiela
Danilo Vigorito
Adam Beyer
Ben Sims
Dave Clarke
Digweed
Tiesto
James Holden
chris Liebing

and these i don't want to see in the top 10:

paul van dyk
Ferry corsten
Ukrainianstud
Im going to have to go with :

Mauro Picotto ( to bad I will not be in Montreal for him:(, HE IS GOD )

Sven Vath
Chris Leibing
Armin Van Buuren
Tiesto
Marco V
Paul Van Dyke
Ferry Corsten
Dj Smitty20
Ahalamek....what's wrong with PvD and Ferry? Elaborate please.

My top Dj would be Tiesto obviously. He's still the man, no matter what you guys say.

Then Armin, Ferry (I always flip flop with these two because I think they are equally good)

Then PvD, Marco V. Sasha and Digweed were never my cup of tea. Mark Oliver has to be up there, but he's not even in the voting.

And last of all.....Matt Darey. He rules too.

ahlamalek
last time ferry came in june, he played like 80% of what he played the time before, in March! and in March he played almost 80% of the stuff he played the time before... he's a great guy and an awesome partier, but his track selection is so predictable...

and paul van dick, no idea why this guy is so highly rated, most of the stuff he plays is so cheeze and boring. [/awaits for flaming]:D

maybe its the whole trance genre... i think tiesto saw its end and now diversify in prog and some melodic techno.
Endlesswave
1. PvD
2. Armin
3. Marco V
4. JOOF
5. Mauro Picotto

As for the Tiesto debate, meh, he was a LOT better in 2001 and prior. Now he's just getting sloppy, track selection is decent with a variety of tunes, but imo his mixing has gone downhill. Not as smooth/flowing as previous years...
