Umm
I know there's been a thread about this before
Like a while back
But I was just wondering if any of you stringers out there could post some "moves".
Coz stringing looks pretty cool but I have no idea on how to start.
So some advice would be cool :)
Thx! |

Good Thread !!!
I luv Raving !!!
le me see Skybreak...I'm not a stringraver, but I saw this guy first tie his strings to glowsticks...than put glowsticks on the ground, than he stepped on them...than he tied the string up (by putting his arms higher) and than when the beat started..he started doing the figure 8............

i am a 'stringer' :D
i'll try to make a movie for u tonight
but the basic moves are:
1-vertical figure 8
2-horizontal figure 8
you can start by doing simple circles over you head, and on the sides
your strings should be approximately 15-20 cm long
and prepear to hurt yourself while practicing:D 'stringing' is an artform, and every art demands sacrifices (in this case you'll hit yourself in a head about 100 times before learning how to do it properly):D good luck |

shoelaces are the best :) that's what i practice with
i practice at home, but i don't have a big mirror, so i do it in front of the window. when the sun is down you can see your reflection very well.

i too am a stringer and pinklolly is correct in sayin' that you'll potentially hit yourself multiple times before getting the basics down. first ya gotta learn to control the strings so that they won't run into each other. make sure your rotate your wrists and keeping your arms idle. that's important. that way they'll stay on a linear path. so try spinning them on your sides first off.
once you get that down. try learning a move called the butterfly. it's hard to explain. but you put your hands together, one above the other, the one at the bottom slightly ahead of the top one. then your rotate your wrists, slowly pointing them inward until the string and meteor do a kind of 'butterfly' circular pattern in front of you.
bah. hard to explain. :) but yeah.
then you can move onto moves like the mexican wave and other stuff. |
