plummet - damaged (extalin remix)

hey there, i started this a week before the competition so i didnt finish on time and while i was trying to upload it i downloaded one of the remixes and broke the rules of the competition, so i decided to resign myself, and thats why im posting it up here before the competition is over.

anyway, i made it with reason 2.5, cubase sx, sound forge, and t-racks 24. I did something interesting with the vocals... see the way she says it in the original is way too fast for me and i didnt really like the way she said it, so what i did was load up the acapella into cubase sx and i time stretched individual words to make her sing in a different rhythm (not just timestretching the whole acapella track, but actually timestretching individual words/syllables). anyway, most of the work was done in reason and then a fair amount in cubase, i edited stuff in sound forge and then mastered in T-Racks 24.

this is the second song i have actually finished (cuz i had motivation due to the competition)... ive started a good many things (been producing for about a year and a half) but i have a lot of trouble finishing stuff.

SO, ill quit rambling and let you get to listening:

EDIT: link working again ;)

Hey man !
I like it !!!
Wery nice breaks at 4:10 mark :)
Hmm... but I think it needs a little remastering to remove its smoothness...
Anyway very well done !!!;)

thanks man, i have had several comments on the sound like yours, so i am going to go work on the mastering/mixing some more and when i finish i will post an updated version.

sounds really nice.

kinda like what you have done to the vocals.. sounds good :)

agree on the mastering thou.. otherwise it's great :)

Definately nice and clean production.

Only one thing i don't like: vocals don't quite fit before big break...
extalin
thanks for the comments.

meix: what do you mean they dont fit? like musically because of the notes, or it just doesnt seem like a good place for them?
MeiX
Well, its hard to explain. The vocals on the background are ok and give this nice atmosphere. But lead vocals from 2:05 don't quite fit to this atmoshpere in my opinion... Maybe the rhythm of the vocals is too simplistic... don't know.
extalin
oh ok, i think i know what you are talking about.. thats how i want them to sound though so its ok with me. everyone is entitled to their own opinion  .

NOTE: right now im updating the mix and im going to upload a better version soon (probably within the next 30 mins to an hour).

this sounds awesome, you've handled the vocals very creativly, I like them a lot more than the originals.

great job

still listening to it now..

im really liking it so far.. i can see how the vocals doesnt sit with everyone.. its like, a subtle thing to it where it just isnt quite perfect in some parts. hehe.. production is clean though.. very nice.

OMG, awesome remix! it's a real shame you were too late to enter the competition, because in my opinion this one of the best out of those that were sent in!

i love what you've done with it, very original track on its own and also the vocals are very cool indeed!

one thing though, the bassline is a tad too deep, when it changes key some of the power gets lost..

but overall a great remix!

Sounds like a very good remix, nothing really to complain about. I'm not that much a fan of the track though, since I think it sounds a bit monotonuous (no apparent melodies or leads)... But you made in more interesting for me ;)

Keep it up!
