haha What! That doesn't make any sense.
It's like saying PVD is up there with the Elvis' of Rock and Roll. Yeah he might be a pioneer of trance but c'mon, Elvis changed everything and is a legend (even whilst living).
And same goes for your little Speedy J guy. haha Whoever the hell he is. If you want to go to Speedy J just say so, but you ain't gonna convince me that he's in even in the same league as PVD.
(and I'm not even going to see PVD just the dish. haha) |
Jesus Jon, don't get so defensive!
I never said that PVD was anything like Elvis. He's not. But he is a pioneer of the trance genre, just like Speedy is of the techno genre.
Good thing you're not an English major, because you wouldn't know an analogy if it came up and slapped you in the face. :p |

Well that was my whole point. I have no idea who this guy is (re: speedy jo jo), and based on that premise alone there is no way he's even in the same paradigm of popularity that PVD is in.
I wasn't being defensive, I also said I don't give a about even going to see PVD. I just felt as if sometimes you guys hold techno dj's a little too high.
But alas I'm obviously wrong. I'm almost more upset now because I have no clue who the he is, when I thought I at least had a basic idea of who's who in the techno scene. |

London is not exactly the techno capital of the world, Jon. You could live there for a year and still not have the chance to hear most of the genre's top DJs.
Techno enthusiasts don't hold techno DJs any higher than tranceaddicts hold Tiesto or PVD. In every genre there are superstars. I never said Speedy J is better than PVD and that's why I'm going to hear him instead....I just like techno better than I like trance!
Anyways, I forgive you. :p |

Is there advance tickets for Armin? It seems like there isn't.
Anyone know when Relapse closes on Wednesday? |

Yes I realize that, I was making the point that my head was NOT stuck in the little Toronto scene, and that hey maybe I do have somewhat of an idea of what the is going on.
Just out of curiosity where is the techno capital of the world? Berlin? Amsterdam?
And maybe I'm getting pissed off because I'm realizing that it would take pretty much god himself to come and shake you for you to come out to a trance (or rather prog) party one of these days. ;) |

Hey, I was prepared to come out to PVD that evening, but that was when Mr. J wasn't coming to town. If some act of God prevents the Element gig from happening, and tickets haven't gotten too expensive, you'll see me at KH.
But seriously, I have come out to trance and prog gigs before - you just weren't there to witness! I can't count the number of prog DJs I have gone to hear in the hopes that one day I'll find myself lost in a set the way I am with techno...I've heard DD three or four times, Dave Seaman, Lee Burridge, the system residents, and god knows who else, and I just can't get into it. Different strokes for different folks though.
I don't know where the techno capital is...Berlin (home of Fuse, the underground war shelter turned into a superclub by Jeff Mills), or Germany in general. |
