| I was curious if anyone knew further into the study of Prozac blocking the wrong things from x, therefor possibly making it safer? I heard about a study they did on a rat, and it worked perfectly supposedly...forgot where I saw it at...any new news or ideas? |

| alls that i know is that any ssri will block all or almost all of the effects for e. and no one even knows the 'bad' effects yet because any long term damage study wont be available for quite some time. |

| Well, I guess if it blocks all the effects of it, then it would be rather pointless...is there anything you can eat/take that boosts the process of creating more saritonin(sp?)? |

althought i don't do drugs...here ya go...
"Some of the major foods rich in tryptophan are milk, yogurt, eggs, meat, nuts, beans, fish, and cheese."
Tryptophan is a precurssor to Serotonin. |

You can buy 5-htp (L-hydroxy-tryptophan) from health shops and stuff.
It's sold as natural sleep aids :) |

You mean the cops actually chase after you? pshhh. I just use my hallucinogenic vomit to make them think I morphed into a giant piece of pie, then I run away, because nobody runs after slices of pie. Nobody.. |

heres the deal,
prozac (fluoxotine (sp?) is the real name i think.. not positive) is a SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor), basically it's stops the serotonin in your synapses from being reabsorbed into your body (quick n dirty, as well as horribly inaccurate description). To put it simple, THIS IS BAD. You will get something called serotonin syndrome if you take a SSRI with MDMA, THIS IS BAD!!!!!!!!
However, the theory making rounds in clandestine drug-scientist circles:p :p is that all of the tissue damage which is rumored to occur to your brain happens during comedown when the brain is extremely low on serotonin. At that point, there is basically nothing left in the synapse but dopamine (which is also a chemical that affects mood) however, *normally* it doesn't have a high enough affinity (basically attraction) to the reuptakes so it can't be bound/go in to them. This little model kind of breaks down when your brain is at unhumanly low levels of serotonin (due to MDMA forcing it all out). Then, the dopamine can go into the reuptake. Not a big deal, except for when the MAO (monoamine oxidase) on the other side breaks it down it turns into a rather common chemical, you might have heard of it.
H2O2, or in otherwords Hydrogen Peroxide, or in other words, bleach. Bleach, as we all know, is corrosive to tissue. This = brain cell death (more specifically serotonin axons). This theory is all based on research data obtained from giving rats massive doses of MDMA for ~30 days and then killing them and checking out their brain.
So, supposedly, or at least in theory, if this really is the mechanism for e ing up your head, if you take a regular dose of prozac during comedown your SSR's will be all clogged with prozac, blocking the dopamine from entering, but since you have nearly no serotonin left it's okay (your chemically depressed). I'd say it's all pretty shaky science at best.
If your going to drop e's, just keep it safe with lots of water, if you want to eat some vitamin c's before, during and after, it's an anti-oxidant (kind of anti-bleach if you will) but most importantly DONT TAKE MASSIVE AMOUNTS.
Taking 8 pills in a night is just stupid, even if your brain isn't being damaged, you're putting massive amounts of stress on your body from that much drukqs. I've probably taken 25~30 pills or so since I turned sixteen almost 2 years ago.
While it's hard to be objective about the whole situation I can say that my grades haven't suffered at all (although school has always been trivial) and I haven't noticed any permenant cognitive changes or memory loss. Your Mileage May Vary, I know more than a few people who take plenty of drugs and are struggling to stay in school (I'm graduating a semester early :p ).
I wouldn't go as far as to blame it on the drugs, for it is certainly the person who is causing the damage to themselves and their future, but drugs don't help the cause any. |
