Bull, people in our country have the worst taste in music and it will be that way for quite awhile.

Not in the near future, imo. The music industry has too big of an influence on what people listen to here in North America.

I started out listening to Oakie's Flouro CDs....check out Disc 2 for some wikkid psychedelicatesséns! ;)

As for kick-ass Goa-trance, download anything by Cosmosis.

Greetz!

ive listened to a little bit of it. my frined used to be really into it, and his brother used to spin it but it never seemed to spark my interest too much.

While I wouldn't go as far as discrediting GOA/PSY-trance I would definitely say it isn't [the only] "real" trance. In fact, it's quite different than what most people traditionally consider trance.

The tracks tend to be brimming full of energy, pumping from beginning to end, with a notably higher BPM than most trance. Also, goa tends to be littered with sounds, as where trance tends to isolate the melody (call it minimal if you will). This is the big difference, i find listening to goa to simply be too much aural input at times. Sure it's good groove music but it's often hard to make sense of it, I find a lot of goa gives me the same "vibe".

This is not to say it isn't trance, but it's definetely got a different methodology behind it. To say psy is [the only] "real trance" seems to be a dubious claim at best or suggests you have a rather dilettante understanding of trance.

I'm sure some goa addict will come here and jack my uneducated ass up for being entirely uncorrect but .. at least i tried =)

*edit* clarification purposes

Well, I still, after many years, find it hard to call stuff from the likes of Tiesto/AvB/PvD 'trance'. Psy and goa, on the other hand, fit the defition of word 'trance' perfectly.
