Review: DuMonde @ VIVA (pg. 9)

Wow.
very good night. I was very impressed. The event went off w/o a hitch. The club is great. Very spacious and great sound (not as good as Guv's but definitely second in the GTA) and wicked lights (lazers were better than at guv IMO). The place was perfectly packed but never too rammed to bust moves, which I appreciated as a regular at Guv events. The layout of the club is pretty good too. w/ a lounge area in the back and a mostly obstruction-free dancefloor.
The opening DJ's were very good. I was glad that we arrived early and got to hear DJ Eso and DJ Mobius. The other DJ (the viva resident i think) that followed them also performed well.
Dumonde were a lot of fun. A very energetic set that had the room dancing. I loved it! The people that were there to see Dumonde (a few regulars i met had no idea that a special event was taking place except for the elevated cost of entry) had such amazing vibe and energy...it felt more like parties from the past (i mean this in the best possible way). It was soooo good to hear godd music being played out. *happy sigh*

The tunes were so hard and pumping and the venue was so perfect and everyone around me seemed so into it, it felt like the scene in Groove where digweed drops heavenscent.
It was also great to hear Mark in that setting. What a versatile DJ! It was only a few weeks ago that he was laying down a sick opening prog set at Lotus for Digweed, and to hear him switch to trance and do it so well... He is very good at playing the perfect set for the type of event and DJ that performs before/after.
a close to perfect night.
much respect to Temporal Rythym for throwing such a good party. I am so thoroughly impressed w/ you! No complaints about anything at all!

"One of the highlights of the night came when I asked Dominik DeLeon at the end of his set what it was like playing in a new club (this being their Canadian debut) to which he replied: exciting and that there was so much energy in the building that it reminded him of Gatecrasher UK .. WTF !!" - Desidel on tribe

Tara, you took the words right out of my mouth... once again, hanging with the TOTAs made my night!!!!!!!
Amazing first night at Viva - LOVED the lights, even better than Guvvie (which I didn't think was possible!) and adored the tunes even more!
Fabulous to see all of you: Tara, Matt, As, Marg, Ray, Mike, Jenna, Rich, Sara, Chris, Ryan, Mirza, Steve, Aaron, Jason (cono_sur), Jason, Dell, Christina, Beh, Ilyia, Nav, Emery, John, Dj Eso, Mobius, and many more (sorry if I missed you, I suck at names!!!) Missed you Nat!

ohhhhh, i wouldn't worry about that. Keep this date in mind: October 11th and 12th....ARMIN AND PVD!!
.......it does suck that i missed that show too tho......i really wanted to see dumonde.....I HATE WORK! |

OMG what a party!!!
It started for me at 9 o'clock when me and Durafei came to Franky Tomatos. I did not expect that there would be sooo many TA's there, our gatherings in Montreal usually had 20 ppl at most. But now since I am back for good I'll have to get used to TOTA realities:D
DJ Eso played a good set, I could see that he was neverous, I am pretty sure it will be even better set next time;)
DJ Mobius - amazing set, two thumbs up, very energetic techno start and very nice transition to trance. Thomas vs Filterheadz - Sunshine rules :D
Walter Rosatti - got the crowd CRAZY, amazing set, when Dumonde got on the decks the crowd was more than ready for it.
Dumonde - 15/10:eyes: Never, never heard such an energetic live set in my life! TR, bring them back!!!!
I could not stay for Mark Oliver, had lots of plans for Saturday, did not want to go to bed at 8 in the morning.
I managed to get to VIP area next to the DJ booth right before Dumonde set, and they signed my Never Look Back vinyl, that was the happiest moment of the night for me:) They are amazing!!! |
