One thing that's also never really mentioned.
Music sales were going UP as Napster became popular....and started going down once it got shut down.

This could be a good situation. If they follow through with their suit, the media will likely have a field day about how the RIAA bankrupted a single mom and her 12 year old honor student. If they DONT go through with it, everyone else will say "so what so special about her then? Why should my suit apply either?"
Actually, what I think would be best is if they follow through and her mom fights it to death in the courts. Who do you think a jury will side with, a multi million (billion?) dollar industry after thousands of dollars from a single mom, or the mom and her honor roll student? Lets not forget that the RIAA convinently circumvents ALL legal process in its subpoenas. All it would take is ONE person to fight, and win. The rest of the dominos would fall too. |

i was just going to mention that.

BUT!! That would mean that great artists like Brittany Spears, P.Diddy and Blink 182 wouldn't be able to buy a new car every week because they would be making a lot less money!! (and dude, that is such a good idea it's not even funny. Stars are making way too much money nowadays...same goes for sports-stars) |

Everyone should stop buying albums from the BIG 5. Boycott for say, 2 weeks much less a month, and we would see how down on their knees they (the corporations involved) would be. The record industry in America should adapt imo. I think the only way artists will make money in the future is by live shows, and the music be for free . And if the artist is good, his or her show will sell. Just my 2cp. |
Seriously- How hard is it for everyone in the US to stop buying cd's for 1-2 months- They wanna with people - let the people back. Oh no! You cant get the new j-lo coming out! give me a ing break.
The only people who buy CD's these days are people with no computers.
We should spread the word and set like Anti RIAA month or something and not buy any CD's for November/December (Yes- NO CHRISTMAS CD'S JOHNNY!)
how much would that be in their ass. |

Seriously- I think I've bought maybe software and cd's a total i can count on one hand-
I would rather have an original- its not 192k sound quality is better- they cost the RIAA like less than $1 to make- lets do some math here on who really is getting paid what- Standard price on a cd now is what? I Dont even know- I havnt been in stores lately- Last time I checked like $16 for a single cd? That's ing rediculous.
I bet their actual sales profits would double if they dropped that down to like $8
Who's going to organize this - need some volunteers :P |
