Why do people call trance techno?

It s me it really does, then you have mtv exploits such as eminem making stupid statements like "Nobody listens to techno" and retards repeating them when referring to trance. I'd rather them generalise trance as electronic music if they're going to be ignorant.

I totally agree, but most people that call trance techno have no hope and never will. :)

Almost as bad when people call dj sammy quality trance... I pounded my friend for saying it. :p

Cause only newbs to electronica don't know what the difference is, the only similiarity they realise is the "boom boom boom".
Ghostface
Simply put, because they're ed in the head and don't know any better.

Your a moron, he says 'Nobody listen to techno!' There's no "S" on the 'listen'...it makes a big difference  Sorry, just had to bring that to your attention :p

People just call it techno because they simply dont know otherwise. They dont like it so why would they wanna learn about it? As much as you wanna deny it, Sammy is trance :p Just not quality!

precisely.

i think you need to chill.
unless you're to pay the same amount of respect to all genres of music [and all things for that matter] you neednt complain. take the hip hop culture for instance. its a genre that has as much history and styles as electronica, but yet, many will categorize it and continually do so as "p.diddy" music. now is that hardly fair?

well firstly
the music stores themself
doesn't sort their music genres out properly
a few years back
when hardly anyone was educated
you see
trance/techno etc.. being labeled as DANCE!
or happyhardcore/hardcore etc..

and in the USA
they labeled trance /electronic music as techno!

so when these guys go out and buy their music (CD's etc)
they just think its techno even if it was trance.
even if it was a trance cd etc and even if the store owner knows its trance, they would also stick it in the techno section for the less educated people so it gets spotted!!.

but just relax and enjoy what it is your listening to, and its all good

just be happy dood :tongue2

I totally agree. If someone doesn't listen to a particular genre of music, then they obviously will not be able to decipher between each different style such as trance, techno, house or whatever - most of these people probably havent even heard these terms, therefore they generalise it into one category or term that they are familiar with. A good example is a lot of my friends are into R&B and hate trance. Because of this they refer to it as techno, or that "doof doof" music. This not because they are trying to have a go at the genre, they are simply not educated in this type of music.
