Hey Wicked Neo - here's a clue about the RIAA for you...

Aside from the fact that they are only concerned with the labels that are under their umbrella, there is nothing illegal about liveset mixes and in fact many bands/groups/DJs encourage reproduction of live sets as it helps spread their name. The only thing it is illegal to do is to share/sell albums that are sold in stores, etc.

There is nothing illegal about acquiring or burning live sets to CD. As far as compensating the person who does it if they are doing it for you, as long as they are not explicitly trying to make money off it, you can OFFER THEM compensation for their time and hardware.

Just thought you should know that so you can stop locking threads that shouldn't be locked such as these two which have NOTHING a allto do with what the RIAA is all up in arms about as you incorrectly claim:

Im pretty sure ur wrong about this, though i cant be arsed to explain why. Even if you were right, you shouldn't be going against a moderators wishes anyway.
JRock
Going against wishes? Do you have a clue what you're saying? Apparently not. I'm just enlightening him as to the reality of the issues with the RIAA. He can keep the threads closed for all I care - he's the mod. I'm just at least letting him know for the future the fact of the matter. That's all. Relax.
Neo nEro
ever heard of something called a PM??
JRock
Apparently he's not the only one who doesn't understand the RIAA, so this needs to be somewhere people can read it.
Anyway, off to work. See ya later.

Explain to me your logic.

It is illegal to share singles.

So, how woud it become legal for you take 5 singles and use them in a mix, and then share that mix?

People openly talking about illegal file sharing is threatening TA's future. There's no need to mention it, unless of course you want TA closed, and ill assume you do ;).

First of all, most of these singles are only available on vinyl and even then most of them only in Europe. And on top of that none of them are on major labels (Vivendi, Universal, etc) and more so none of them are part of the RIAA. How many more levels of removal do you need before you understand how far removed that is from the RIAA?

AND ON TOP OF ALL THAT, I still never said people should sell them.

TA is in Canada. RIAA has no jurisdiction here, and the Canadian equivalent doesn't have the resources or the money to go after people like the RIAA does. Unless Swamper's using an American hosting company, I doubt TA is in any danger from the RIAA.

still think all kind of filesharing and stuff should be held apart from TA.

i say buy a portable recorder,
and don't forget to turn it on before you get too drunk.

Wrong, the format of the music is irrelevant. store cd or liveset rip, it's still the same music protected by the same copyright law you moron.

wrong again. "burning" a track is copying it...and since when can you freely reproduce music without breaching copyright law in the US you moron?

never read a bigger load of crap in my life.
