where's the atmosphere?

okay first of all, I don't want anyone to take this post personally, I'm not trying to offend anyone with this post, just to get the forums back in it's "normal" state that it was in about 6-7 months ago...

I remember a time when I really enjoyed to check out the productionpart of the forums every day to join in on hot discussions on different topics...

nowdays I check this part of the forum one or maybe two times a week and I've asked myself why I don't like it as much as before and I've come up with three possible reasons...

1. I've lost interest in musicproduction overall

2. I've grown away from the forums

3. the quality on the threads are way lower now than before

well as for number 1, no chance since I think it's more fun than ever producing tracks :)

as for number 2 I doubt that I've grown away from the forums since I'm the very same person that I was 6 months ago

my guess is that the quality on the forums nowdays are way lower than it used to be, there's simply to many threads of the same type. It's either "how do I start to produce..." or "wich one is best/wich one do ya recomend"...

so why am I really posting all this you might wonder, well simply because the tranceaddict production-forum has been a big part of my production-life, it's here that I've learned the most of what I know today when it comes to producing and mastering so I feel that I don't wanna stop hanging out here :)

what I want you all to think about is to think twive before posting a thread..

"is it really worth posting this thread"
"will this thread add something to the forum or is it just totally meanless"

and as always, if ya have a question....ALWAYS do a search on the topic before posting it, you will both spare yourself time and us others anoyance of the same questions being asked over and over

I really hope you don't take this post in the wrong way because I don't mean to bash down on someone...I'm just posting this in hope of getting that special atmosphere back that we had before :)

i think all the one's that have been here for a while agree with you... most of the threads nowadays is "what do i do to start to produce" or "what is best... this or that" etc....

was better before... newbies is annoying sometimes.. hehehehehe ;)
Vizay
well you can blame it on newbies but I donät wanna do that because we must accept that there will come new people all the time, in fact I love to help the ones that doesn't know everything :)

the biggest problem is that people doesn't think twice before posting...
mantisnl
i totally agree with this!
but i think its because we aren`t newbie`s anymore actually!
i think this is still a great place if you`re a newbie, lots of information and stuff.
if you didnt know about producing at this time, all the threads would be a load of information 2 you, right?

i think this is the reason:)

Although I definitely fall in the "newbie" category if we base it on posts, I completely agree with you. But I post on tons of other boards and everywhere is the same thing: people complaining and flaming newbies. The problem is that there are too many stupid/lazy people in this world and they don't realize that just about EVERY question they could possibly have has been answered at least once. Newbies should be required to complete 25 searches before being allowed to post.

hehehe... good idea ;)

but yeah.. this place is kinda for newbies... even for us that isn't that newbie anymore.. caus you can always learn new stuff.
and even if it isn't really new, you can get different ideas and make stuff a little better for you etc...

but i think that it's a bit like mantis said... the one's that used to be here doesn't think about this section as much becaus they don't think they have any use for it.. so they just don't visit it as often....

but one reason i think also is becaus of the how to start producing etc... threads that is posted all the time wich does that you check's this section and the first thing you see is a new "how to start producing, or what is best..." thread so you go to another section instead....

can't we get some typo in the top of this section that says "SEARCH BEFORE POSTING" or something like that so we don't get the same freaking threads all the time

I'd like to see more tutorials on how to create certain effects and whatnot, sorta like what I did with the avb bassline post. Full de-constructions with info on what was used to create the sounds; that would be nice.

I acutally feel the same way as Vizay does. And I visit this forum only once or twice a week.

a possible solution for everyone:

The mods could make one of the last "how do I start production" threads "sticky thread" and in the last post of this one we could give some links to the older "newbie to prodcutin - please help" threads. So the newbies would have quick access to the desired information. ;)

Lots of useful information for newbies is also in the "exploration of sound" to be found.

wow I must say that this was more support than I had expected :)

well as a conclusion then, apparently it's not just me it's about...

how to solve this problem, guess only god knows but the latest days have been better imo :)

I too am almost a complete newbie and I find myself asking quetiions that have been asked a few times every now and again.

However, at the same time, I have answered the same super-newbie questions time and time again myself. I think that puytting a stickey up at the top of the form called "newbie corner", or "getting started: everything you need to know" would help cut back on the stupid 'I want to start making trance posts'.

I love reading up on new stuff like DJ-sean's wicked tutorial that he had up the other day and I try to do my part in keeping this form clear of repetativeness by using the search button before posting. :) I think if people learned to use the search button this site may seem usefull to the veterans like Vazay because more useful, in depth posts would be front and center.

Somebody put up a stick at the top. An FAQ, a getting started sextion. even a stickey that says "use the search button before posting!!!".

Peace fellas,

I don't know if it's a problem or not but how active are the ops in here? :)
