question:
How do u guyz star producing a track?
U first create the break/melody and create al things arround that?
or just start from the beginnen? |

depends on the style of the track..
if i have a melody in my head, i create it and work from there (adding bassline and percussion, so that i have an 'idea' on how the main part will sound like)
sometimes i'm just messing with sounds and loops, and all of a sudden a nasty groove comes up..

then i move onto bass and percussion
after ive done all of that, i compile it into a track |

i tend to start from the beginning, that's why 90% of what i do in fruity never gets completed :\
starting by the middle part of the tune is what i recommend. start by the melody, breakdown/buildup, then go into percussion and the rest of the stuff. basically, you should start by the paek time of the track, it's way easier to make submelodies/percussion to fit the already existing main lead than starting by the less important stuff then trying to invent a main part for it. |

| I start in the middle with the main idea of the song. It might be a melody, it might be a percussive groove, who knows. From there, I work back to the beginning and then do the end. |

mostly i start with a melodie... sometimes the string come's first and i make a melodie from that...
then i make the bass and percussions and make's the main part of the track.... then i mostly make a buildup and then the intro come's
and last the outro :) |

I used to start with the melody, now I traditionally start with percussion and bassline. Once you have a track that's pretty driving with a really good beat, you can start adding melodic elements. Furthermore, sometimes you end up with good driving techy tracks this way.
Really depends though; if you get an idea for a good melody first then you should start there and work on the arrangement around it. |

| Lately I've been starting with the percussion elements of the song but usually I begin with the bassline. For some songs I start with the melody but that's only when I have a melody that I'm exicted about or if it's a melody I just can't ge out of my head. |

i often start with the lead melody/bd.. then i create a second melody for the background that fits to the lead. and now i go to the start and build the intro (and a breakdown).. because i know my target i can easily do the build up (it includes the basslines).
and finally some bridges and the outro..

Imo you start with the main lead don't do anything once you have your main lead
after youve created your main lead then make variations of it for example different key signatures ,different octaves etc
then you have your second and third main lead
then you put your leads where you want it then go back to the beggining and create the rest
bass loop
loop
kick
bass drum kick
snare
snare roll
full snare roll
the rest of the percussion and drums etc
hat
toms
pedal hat
closed hat
open hat
clap
cowbell
pretty much whatevery ou want could be percussion
then the bass
again make different variations of the same bassline
so after you create
your 1st sec and third main lead
you then go back to the beginning and make the intro and the build up and the outro but before you do all that
you need to create
the bass
percussion
Drums
spheres ,atmospheres
melodies
and stabs
then sequence everything add any effects
then ad fx and vocals

Actually, I usually have the drum beat first.
If I start with the synths I usually manage -up the volume balance which means that
a) everything dets distorted
b) the drums aren't loud enough.
When I've started to do a track I've never ever had an idea ready (since I am so hopeless with creating melodies) - every single of my tracks is a result of experimenting with random stuff because I've had nothing else to do. |

I used to be like that, but now melodies come naturally to me.
Look into classical music theory, and focus on directed motion(have a beginning note and an end note and work your way up or down.)
Another really good way to come up with melodies is to listen to a song, doesn't matter whose, and listen for hidden melodies, the ones that were not intentional and might just be a result of pulses created by two notes interacting.
I'll give an example. In my song "Entropy", the smooth lead at 3:30 can actually be heard about 10-15 secs before that, but I didn't put that in. It was a result of two arpeggios and their delays, and that's my fav part of the song.
